Enahoro Asein (83KG) Claims 380-kg (837.8-lb) Raw Deadlift IPF World Record at 2023 EPF European Championships

The 2023 EPF European Open Classic Powerlifting Championships run from December 4-9 in Tartu, Estonia. So, the second day of the competition concluded, and it picked up exactly where day one stopped as the contestants continued breaking World Records. Enahoro Asein was the star of day two, having put in a stellar performance overall. Although nearly everyone was aware of his deadlifting prowess, Enahoro still managed to blow many minds with his 380-kilogram (837.8-pound) pull. With this lift, Enahoro set a brand new U83KG IPF Raw Deadlift World Record.

Enahoro Asein picked 355 kilograms (782.6 pounds) for his first deadlift attempt of the competition, which was far below what he was capable of. So, after crushing that lift, he moved the weight up to 373 kilograms (822.3 pounds) for his second attempt. That weight was already exceeding the World Record, but Enahoro, unfortunately, did not successfully complete it.

Despite failing the second attempt, Enahoro Asein still decided to increase the weight to 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds) for his final try. Being a part of the raw division, he was only allowed to use a lifting belt and not any other piece of equipment. His stance of choice was sumo, while his grip was mixed. Enahoro’s deadlift looked very smooth overall, since he had no issues during any phase.

Enahoro Asein held the old U83KG IPF World Record as well, but he has now drastically improved it. It previously stood at 370.5 kilograms (816.8 pounds), which he set at the 2023 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships. He did, however, attempt to lift 380.5 kilograms (838.9 pounds) at the same competition but was unable to do so at the time. Six months have passed since, and Enahoro has now successfully locked out a deadlift of similar weight.

Enahoro Asein’s Full Performance

Enahoro Asein missed three of his nine attempts overall, that is, one attempt in each event. Luckily, those mistakes did not cost him the title, but they did make it a bit more difficult for him. Enahoro and Jurins Kengamu both finished the day with an 812.5-kilogram (1,791.3-pound) Total, so the winner was decided on a tiebreaker. Well, Enahoro’s bodyweight during the competition was 82.4 kilograms (181.7 pounds), which was 0.35 kilograms (0.8 pounds) lighter than Kengamu’s. In turn, Enahoro managed to win because of this slight difference in bodyweight.

He now has three gold medals to his name, two from the National Hungarian Championships and one from the 2023 EPF European Championships. Moreover, Enahoro has won silver and bronze medals at the 2023 and 2022 IPF World Championships, respectively.
