When it comes to raw powerlifting, there has never been anyone as strong as Jesus Olivares. If that wasn’t clear enough before, his performance at the 2025 SBD Austin definitely proved it. The competition took place on November 22nd in Austin, Texas, gathering the biggest prospects in the powerlifting community. Jesus Olivares competed in the +120-kilogram weight class and achieved the heaviest raw total in the history of powerlifting.
Jesus Olivares’ Performance Overview
Jesus Olivares came in with a bodyweight of 182.4 kilograms (402.1 pounds). He finished the competition with seven successful lifts, missing out only on his final bench press and deadlift attempts. This resulted in his performance being the greatest one ever achieved on a competition platform.
Squat
Jesus Olivares put on a show at the start of the competition, crushing a 455-kilogram (1,003-pound) squat on his second attempt. However, he still had plenty left in the tank, which led to a 478.5-kilogram (1,054.9-pound) final attempt. After unracking the bar, Jesus took a few steps back, making sure to remain stable while carrying the massive weight. He then lowered the weight and reached the required depth before starting to ascend back up. While trying to lock out the lift, Jesus reached a sticking point, and to some, it may have looked like he wouldn’t be able to proceed. However, he persisted and finished the lift, unofficially breaking the IPF World Record as well.

Bench Press
The second event of the competition also went well for Jesus Olivares, as he managed to bench press 265 kilograms (584.2 pounds). He was, however, hoping to set a new Competition PR on his final attempt, where he loaded 275 kilograms (606.3 pounds) on the bar. Unfortunately, he did not successfully complete the lift but did not let it set him back, since he had to shift his focus to the final event.

Deadlift
Lastly, Jesus Olivares took on the deadlift. He tied his Competition PR on the second attempt, pulling 410 kilograms (903.9 pounds) off the floor with ease. So, for his last attempt, Jesus decided to go for 430 kilograms (948 pounds), which would have marked an Unofficial IPF World Record as well. While Jesus definitely had the power to complete the deadlift, his grip strength gave out, resulting in an unsuccessful lift.

Jesus Olivares has made 26 sanctioned powerlifting appearances and won 14 of them so far. He is the reigning and five-time IPF World Champion but has also set countless World Records in recent years. Jesus is still just 27 years old, which means that he’ll likely continue improving and cementing his legacy as arguably the greatest powerlifter in history.
