Joshua Hall Sets Raw Deadlift American Record

The 2025 SBD Austin took place on November 22nd in Texas and proved to be a spectacular viewing experience with dozens of world-class athletes demonstrating their abilities and battling for the title. One that stood out was Joshua Hall, a competitor in the 105-kilogram weight class, who ended up deadlifting 385 kilograms (848.8 pounds) to set a new AMP American National Record.

Joshua Hall recently transitioned to the Powerlifting America (AMP) federation, which is an IPF affiliate for the region of the USA. He made his debut at the SBD Austin and made sure to impress. Following great performances on the squat and bench press, Austin got ready to put on a show on the deadlift.

Joshua Hall’s first pull at the competition came out to 345 kilograms (760.6 pounds). Being an opener, it moved incredibly quickly, setting the stage for what would come in the next two attempts. For his second deadlift, Joshua loaded 371 kilograms (817.9 pounds), with which he managed to exceed the U105KG AMP American National Record.

Joshua Hall was far from done, since he wanted to push himself to the absolute limit. So, he made a massive jump to 385 kilograms (848.8 pounds) for his final attempt. He then put on some chalk and a lifting belt before setting up a sumo stance and a hook grip. Hall made the lift look easy and even held the bar in a locked-out position for longer than needed. So, he pushed the record even further.
