Meghan Scanlon is one of the most experienced powerlifters in the IPF currently, but she is only getting better with each new appearance that she makes. This was the case with her recent showing at the 2025 SBD Austin, which occurred on November 22nd in Texas. Scanlon ranked the highest in the women’s overall division and set a new U69KG Raw Total AMP American National Record of 580 kilograms (1,278.7 pounds).
Meghan Scanlon’s 2025 SBD Austin Performance Breakdown
Meghan Scanlon weighed in at 67 kilograms (147.7 pounds) for the 2025 SBD Austin, meaning that she came in 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) lighter than the 69-kilogram weight class allows. She showcased perfect planning, knowing exactly what her limits are and successfully completing all nine of her attempts.

Squat
Meghan Scanlon competed in October. So, her decision to take part at the 2025 SBD Austin brought questions about her ability to recover in time and prepare for the meet. However, her performance on the squats proved that she arrived ready to put in her greatest ever performance. Meghan lifted 210 kilograms (463 pounds) on her final attempt, which marked the heaviest squat that she has ever achieved on the competition floor.

Bench Press
Meghan Scanlon decided to start the bench press session with a lift of 135 kilograms (297.6 pounds). Although the bar moved smoothly, Meghan decided to make a 5-kilogram (11-pound) jump. The outcome was quite similar, and it prompted her to load 145 kilograms (319.7 pounds) for her final attempt. As expected, Meghan crushed the lift and paved the way for herself to crush the Total American Record.

Deadlift
Meghan Scanlon made easy work of her opening two deadlift attempts. However, with just one deadlift left, she knew that there was no room for error. Scanlon loaded 225 kilograms (496 pounds) on the bar, approached the bar, set up a sumo stance, and lastly gripped the bar. With that, she was ready to go for the record-breaking pull. Just seconds later, Meghan locked out the lift and set a new American Total Record.

With the win at the 2025 SBD Austin under her belt, Meghan Scanlon also secured a wildcard invite for the 2026 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. So, she will be joining other world-class powerlifters on January 31st in England. It will be one of the biggest competitions of 2026, and Meghan has definitely earned her spot.
Meghan Scanlon has been competing in powerlifting for nearly ten years and has accumulated 31 sanctioned powerlifting appearances. She has won 20 shows so far, including the 2022 and 2024 IPF World Championships. Scanlon has also stood on the podium at many prestigious competitions, which goes to show that she is always contending for the title.
