The 2023 IWF Grand Prix II is taking place from December 4-14, in Doha, Qatar. Over the multiple days of competition, many elite weightlifters got the chance to display their strengths on the stage. One that sparked a lot of excitement was Olivia Reeves, a junior USA representative who is projected to become one of the greatest weightlifters ever. Well, she continued down that path at the competition, since she managed to set new U71KG Junior World Records in all three core weightlifting events.
Olivia Reeves wore a lifting belt and knee sleeves for all of her attempts at the competition. Moreover, she did not fail any of her six attempts across the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk.
Snatch
Olivia Reeves used her first attempt to warm up and break the ice. However, she then performed a 113-kilogram (249.1-pound) Snatch on her second attempt, which was already heavier than the record. Still, with one attempt left, Olivia chose 115 kilograms (253.5 pounds) to further improve the Snatch Junior U71KG World Record.
Each of Olivia Reeves’ three Snatch attempts looked very smooth, including the final one. Although 115 kilograms (253.5 pounds) was enough for the U71KG Junior World Record, it seemed like she was capable of lifting even more weight. However, it is likely that she wanted to save strength and energy for the next event.

Olivia Reeves once again exceeded the record on her second attempt of 144 kilograms (317.5 pounds). However, that did not stand for long, as she completed a 147-kilogram (324.1-pound) Clean & Jerk on her final attempt, which now stands as the U71KG Junior World Record.

Once Snatch and Clean & Jerk were added up, Olivia Reeves came out with a 262-kilogram (577.6-pound) Total. Having set records in both of the previous attempts, Olivia’s Total was also a new U71KG Junior World Record.
Olivia Reeves also held the previous Total record, which she set by lifting 253 kilograms (557.8 pounds) at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships. So, she has improved it quite a bit now, moving it out of reach for the rest of the 71-kilogram juniors.
