Wrestling icon Ric Flair is providing additional details about the untimely death of ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan (Terry Gene Bollea). In an Instagram post on Nov. 30, Flair blamed street drugs for killing Hogan.

In July, Hogan passed away due to cardiac arrest in Clearwater, FL. Moments before his death, a TikTok video went viral, showing paramedics attempting life-saving measures on the wrestling superstar. Despite chest compressions, he was confirmed dead inside the hospital at 71.

There was speculation among fans and WWE stars that Hogan faced significant health struggles. After a handful of back surgeries, Kurt Angle shared that Hogan couldn’t feel his lower body and was forced to use a cane to walk around. Now, new information has come to light about Hogan, who seemingly struggled with illicit drugs in the days leading up to his passing.

Ric Flair Says Street Drugs Killed Hulk Hogan

Though some deemed Flair’s remarks controversial, he stressed that he was only trying to repeat facts learned from Hogan’s close family members.

“There Seems To Be Some Controversy Over My Remarks That Street Drugs Killed Hulk Hogan. I Only Was Repeating What I Know To Be A Fact Through Family Members. After 11 Back Surgeries, Hip Replacements, Knee Replacements, Shoulder Replacement, And Two Neck Surgeries, I Am Sure The Pain Was Unbearable.”

In addition to using street drugs, Hogan took pain medication prescribed by his doctors. Flair noted that eventually, he paid the ultimate price.

“A Doctor As I Know Can Only Prescribe So Much Pain Medication Under Medical Guidelines. I’ve Been Told That All They Did Was To Help Him Not To Hurt Him. To Help Him Get Through The Night And The Pain. Eventually That Catches Up With You As We Know With Everybody.”

Flair explained that his comments weren’t meant to demean or belittle Hogan or his legacy.

“He Was My Friend, A Man I Respected, And I’m Only Reporting What I’ve Been Told. Nothing More, Nothing Less. This Was Not An Attempt To Demean Hulk Hogan Or His Legacy. I Have Always Referred To Him As Being One Of The Two Biggest Stars In The Industry, Himself And Steve Austin. I Apologize If People Misunderstood My Statement. Hulkamania Forever!” Ric Flair shared.

The loss of Hogan hit the fitness community hard. Joey Swoll shared a tribute post honoring the WWE star’s career. However, fans took issue with some of Hogan’s past racist remarks and called out Swoll for supporting him.

Details are continuing to surface around Hogan’s tragic death. As one of his closest friends, Flair plans to continue honoring his memory.
