The 2023 FFForce French Nationals took place on September 20-24 in Le Crès and resulted in a variety of incredible feats of strength. So, with a plethora of world-class athletes, it was hard for anyone to stand out. However, it was not impossible, as Stanley Odin’s performance was widely recognized as the most impressive one in the men’s division. He took part in the +120-kilogram weight class, where he claimed the title, but also set new Squat and Total French National Records.
Stanley Odin opened up with a 330-kilogram (727.5 pounds) squat, which was already a brand new competition PR for him. So, it was not clear just how much more he could lift. However, he then displayed another surprise by squatting 352.5 kilograms (777.1 pounds) on his second attempt. Consequently, he broke the +120KG French National Record, but still had one more attempt remaining.
Despite already claiming the record, Stanley Odin walked out for his third attempt looking like everything depended on it. So, after hyping himself up, Stanley ducked under the 362.5-kilogram (799.2-pound) barbell while wearing a lifting belt and knee sleeves. He then braced himself for the lift, squatted extremely deep, and came back up with speed. So, he gave the judges no choice but to give him white lights, thus proclaiming the 362.5-kilogram (799.2-pound) raw squat +120KG French National Record successful.
Romuald Massé held the previous record of 350 kilograms (771.6 pounds), which he set at the 2021 FFForce Championnats de France Jeunes et Élite de Force Athlétique. So, it is safe to say that Stanley Odin absolutely demolished the previous mark and established himself as the county’s greatest squatter.
