Average Strongman Physique
Documented average and median height and weight of strongmen, computed only over competitors with the data on record.
Based on the documented competitors in our database, the typical strongman has a median height of 188.0 cm (6 ft 2 in) and a median weight of 138.0 kg (304 lb). These figures reflect only the athletes who have this data on record, not the entire roster.
| Metric | Median | Average | Range | Sample (N) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 188.0 cm (6 ft 2 in) | 187.5 cm (6 ft 2 in) | 160-213 cm | 713 |
| Weight | 138.0 kg (304 lb) | 139.3 kg (307 lb) | 74-215 kg | 671 |
These averages are computed from documented competitors only (713 with a recorded height, 671 with a recorded weight), out of 3,703 strongmen in our database. Body metrics are not on file for every athlete, so these figures describe the documented sample, not the whole sport. The median is shown alongside the average because it is more resistant to outliers.
How We Calculate the Average Strongman Physique
These figures are derived directly from our athlete database. For each metric we include only competitors whose value is actually on record, then report both the average and the median along with the exact sample size. Because height and weight are documented at different rates, each metric carries its own sample size rather than a single shared count.
We deliberately do not blend men and women into one number, since the two divisions differ in typical build. Use the Men and Women toggle to see each division on its own. For context on how a strongman build compares to other strength sports, see strongman vs bodybuilder.
