Could Max Holloway be next for Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor is one of only three men in the MMA to hand UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway a loss in his professional mixed martial arts career and Holloway is the only opponent besides Nate Diaz to have taken McGregor to a decision in his UFC career so far.

Max Holloway has not defeated since August 17th, 2013 when he faced off with McGregor in Boston, Massachusetts, losing the bout by unanimous decision.

Holloway beat former featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 218 in his first title defense, after having TKO’d the Brazilian to win the strap back at UFC 212.

Max Holloway vs Jose Aldo

Aldo had been reinstated as the featherweight champion after McGregor had been stripped of his title due to inactivity.

Holloway proved himself to be the definitive UFC featherweight champion when he TKO’d Aldo for the second time in just five months, Holloway said in his post-fight interview.

ā€œI told you, all these guys are cupcakes, any of them can get it. I like cupcakes. I’ll eat them all, baby.ā€

ā€œAll due respect to the man, Aldo is a hell of a champion. ā€œI told you guys, though, this is the blessed era. It’s something new. I told you he was going to get tired.ā€ Holloway said

But it seems McGregor was none impressed with Holloway’s second win over Aldo, the two champions took quality shots at each other Sunday on social media.

UFC lightweight champion McGregor started the ball rolling with this ā€œsunglassesā€ shot below at the current UFC featherweight champion Holloway.

Holloway didn’t wait long to fire back at the ā€œretiredā€ McGregor.
