Gabi Garcia’s scheduled fight against 53-year-old Shinobu Kandori has reportedly been canceled following the Brazilian fighter missing weight badly for their bout. The fight was scheduled for Razin’s card Friday.
Garcia missed weight by a whopping 28 pounds, tipping the scale at 237 lbs while her opponent, 53-year-old Shinobu Kandori, weighed in at just 162 pounds. That means the pair are officially 75 pounds apart but Garcia was already cutting weight and Kandori wasn’t so the gap is likely much larger.
After hearing how much Garcia had actually weighed in at, a furious Kandori screamed at her upcoming opponent before storming off. Kandori’s reaction is priceless for the unbridled fury but the bit that really takes the cake is the fu*king pot noodle mascot, standing awkwardly in the background!

Rizin president Nobuyuki Sakakibara confirmed that the fight had been canceled in the hours leading up to the event.

Brazilian fighter Gabi fought twice in 2017, but both of those contests ended in no-contests.
First, she made her shoot boxing debut on July 7 when she faced Megumi Yabushita at Shoot Boxing Girl’s S-Cup 2017. The bout was declared a ‘No Contest’ after Garcia hit Yabushita with two illegal soccer kicks while her opponent was downed.
Next, she had an MMA bout against Russian boxer Oksana Gagloeva at Rizin 6 but that bout ended in a ‘No Contest’ due to an eye poke by Garcia after just sixteen seconds of action.
As per MMAFighting, Garcia said that she reached Japan a day before the weigh-ins, and claims that she missed weight by 8.8 pounds.
#RizinFF Update: Gabi Garcia was 12 kgs over. Opponent Shinobu Kandori freaked out and started yelling “this is a disgrace”. Sakikibara came on stage and said “competitionwise, we cannot make this happen.” Stay tuned.
