We recently posted a news that former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt talk about the incident, but the video of what went down with hollywood movie star Jean-Claude Van Damme has just recently surfaced.
Van Damme was over at Team Alpha Male showing the guys in the gym some kicking techniques. Cody explained on the Real Quick with Mike Swick that he and Van Damme were going through some kicking techniques where the movie star turned things up a bit too much and hit Garbrandt with a kick “right in the teeth.”
The video footage shows Van Damme – who is known for his martial arts action movies – toying with the 11-1 Garbrandt, both Garbrandt and Van Damme have some real reactions. JCVD puts his hands on his face immediately after kicing UFC champ and yells out yells in frustration. Garbrandt was shocked and upset, not expecting any contact and points to his mouth and starts walking away as Van Damme tries to apologize.
Check out the the sparring video of them has just recently surfaced.
“I was like ‘What the hell?’ Then he f*cking kicked me with that hook kick right in the teeth and I was like ‘motherf*cker.’ I was pissed, I was so mad,” explained Garbrandt on the podcast. “I looked over at Rob, then I looked over at Jean and I was like ‘Rob, keep this motherf*cker away from me.’ He kicked me in my teeth, dude.
He kicked me in my teeth just playing around. Like how many times have we punched at each other and we can pull our punches? This dude just straight kicked me in my teeth.

I’m not going to lie, he has some fast ass kicks, but I was demonstrating the kick he showed me to get it right. Then I put my foot down and he kicked me right in the teeth. I went black.”
Garbrandt added he did not want to spend any more time with the Damme after the incident because he was super pissed.
“It is what it is,” said Garbrandt. “We ended up hanging out, turned into a good trip with Jean. He had some really good kicks, I’m not going to lie.”
However, the two ended up together again and Garbrandt was able to accept Jean-Claude’s apologies at a dinner Urijah Faber catered for the crew.
Garbrandt tasted first career defeat to TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217 on November 4, 2017.
