The 2019 Mr. Olympia is less than two weeks away. As the big show approaches, a clearer picture is starting to emerge of what to expect from this massive weekend.
This year’s Olympia marks the 55th anniversary of the event, along with the 15th year under the AMI banner. Since AMI started running the competition, it has grown exponentially. In fact, it has gone from having 63 competitors in 2004 to 176 competing in this year’s event. Moreover, the company provides accommodations, including flights, hotels, and meals for the athletes.
However, this is not the only way things are changing at Mr. Olympia. In 2019, it has been announced that there will be record-setting $1.4 million worth of prize money being awarded between the competitors. This includes a $400,000 grand prize to the champion, in addition to increased prize money across many other divisions. Most notably, all of the female divisions will be seeing a jump in reward for winning the event.
The weekend’s events span from September 12-15 and include the competition, in addition to the Olympia Fitness & Performance Expo. This massive event takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center and will see some of the biggest brands in fitness appear at booths. Additionally, there will be plenty of martial arts, and fitness demonstrations, as well as celebrity appearances. One such celebrity includes the fitness buff and Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.
Wahlberg had this to say about the big Olympia weekend:
“Olympia Weekend is an incredible tradition. If you attend the Olympia you’ll leave with enough inspiration and energy to fuel an entire year of workouts and I’m excited to showcase my brands there. The Olympia has grown into something really special.”

Bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman will also be releasing his highly anticipated book at the event. Moreover, there will also be a Fit Fashion show, Spartan Race, and The Performix Pro Skateboarding Showdown.

I am sorry but I am watching some of this stuff and it has really become a joke…
Whats with the women obviously all juiced up wearing Disney costumes and dancing around like its a broadway show. I love this sport of bodybuilding, it is what I grew up with and grew up around. But come one guys…This isn’t hardcore anymore…and that’s what the Olympia, The True Olympia is all about. Disappointing at best…
