If you thought that the string of events effected by the global pandemic would be left behind in 2020, you are sorely mistaken. The 2021 Static Monsters World Championships has been delayed indefinitely.

The Static Monsters event is a fan favorite amongst strongman athletes and fans alike. Since its inception in 2018, we have seen some of the best in the world compete and showcase their skills.

Unfortunately 2020 saw the World Championships canceled, after the global pandemic put a stop to virtually every major sporting event. It was one of many strongman competitions to be hit by this situation.

This year, the 2021 Static Monsters World Championships was expected to go down on July 24th, at Fortress Obetz in Obetz, OH. However a recent post to their Instagram page revealed this to no longer be the case.

According to the post, the restrictions caused by the pandemic are still raging on and making things difficult. So they have made the decision to postpone the contest to a later date, potentially in either August or September.

“The Static Monsters World Championships for 2021 will be delayed.

We had originally planned to run the event on July 24th 2021 and due to the ongoing complications of travel during the pandemic, we are moving the event date back further into 2021.

Hopefully the later date will help to be able to have the world of international travel (and crossing borders without long quarantines) to enable the competitors that are planning to compete to be able to take part.

Currently we are waiting on the venue for their available dates but we are looking at running the event in August or September.

P.S. For those waiting on invitations, we will aim to send these out when we have finalised dates for the event for this year.”

Hopefully with the long of notice, the Static Monsters World Championship will be able to still take place this year. Last year the timing was so short notice, as the world was panicking, and they were left with no choice.

Although they have not yet set a date for the show, they are not looking to delay it but by a few months. While anything can happen between now and then, it seems that they are taking the steps to ensure the event takes place.

One can only hope that with the knowledge and testing that we now have, less events will be outright canceled this year. Maybe the 2021 Static Monsters World Championships will set the precedent for strongman events this year.
