The 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition has been highly anticipated by strength sports fans all around the globe. The competition took place on November 8-9 in Aberdeen, Scotland, which is a true historic ground when it comes to feats of strength. Well, some more lines of history have been written out by Mitchell Hooper and Inez Carrasquillo, who won their respective divisions.
The 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition was special in many ways. Most notably, this was the first year that the women’s division was integrated into the competition. On the other hand, the competition also featured an appearance from Hafthor Bjornsson, who returned from retirement earlier this year. That, along with how incredibly stacked the lineups were, displayed a true spectacle for all fans of strength sports.
Mitchell Hooper’s key to victory was consistency. So, despite winning just one of six events, he never dropped many points on any of the other workouts. On the other hand, Hafthor Bjornsson, who was Hooper’s biggest rival, won two events but dropped a lot of points on the overhead press. In turn, Hooper managed to defend his title from last year and add another achievement to his resume.
Inez Carrasquillo’s path to victory was a bit different, as she won two out of three events on the first day of competition. That allowed her to just focus on placing relatively high on the second day, purely to maintain her lead over Olga Liashchuk and Lucy Underdown.

Day Two (November 9th)
Event Four — Power Drive
The fourth event of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman consisted of multiple elements. They first had to push / roll the Power Drive (hay bale imitation) before moving on to the next exercise, which was a Husafell Carry. Once that was done, they then had to perform an arm-over-arm sled pull. Once again, the goal was to finish the event as quickly as possible.
Men’s Weights: 750-lb (340.2-kg) Power Drive, 375-lb (170-kg) Husafell, 650-lb (294.8-kg) Sled

Strongman Results
Tom ‘The Albatross’ Stoltman shows his best form on the Power Drive event, fully utilizing his size and wingspan to take the win. He made easy work of all three portions of the event, but particularly impressed everyone on the sled pull. The Scotish Strongman ended up pressing the buzzer at 1:04.81, which turned out to be a winning time.
Hafthor Bjornsson went head-to-head with Mitchell Hooper, and it seemed that the Canadian would win their duel. However, despite trailing his rival by a couple of seconds, Hafthor managed to catch up and overtake Hooper on the sled pull. So, Hafthor recorded another impressive result, finishing in second place just 5 seconds behind Tom. Hooper finished an additional 12 seconds later to grab third place.
- Tom Stoltman — 1:04.81
- Hafthor Bjornsson — 1:09.04

Strongwoman Results
Lucy Underdown claimed her second event win of the competition and got back into title contention with two events remaining. She was not the fastest on the Power Drive, but made up for it on the Husafell Carry and especially the arm-over-arm sled pull. On the other hand, the majority of other women struggled on the sled pull, allowing Lucy to take the win with a time of 1:10.64.
Olga Liashchuk and Inez Carrasquillo performed the event side-by-side, which encouraged them to move even faster. They started the sled pull at the same time, but Olga Liashchuk managed to get the slightest advantage that was enough to claim second place. Inze pressed the button one second later and got 8 points for third place.
- Lucy Underdown — 1:10.64
- Olga Liashchuk — 1:15
- Inez Carrasquillo — 1:16.03

- Angelica Jardine — CAP+1 (24′ 3″)
- Andrea Thompson — CAP+1 (22′ 8″)
- Donna Moore — CAP+1 (3′ 7″)
Event Five — Yoke Escalator
The 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition presented another interesting concept, as it featured groups of five athletes who performed the event at the same time. So, it was an all-out race where the athletes had to carry a Yoke and followed it up by carrying three Power Stairs implements up a flight of four stairs each.
Men’s Weights: 900-lb (408.2-kg) Yoke, 500-lb (226.8-kg) / 550-lb (249.5-kg) / 600-lb (272.2-kg) Power Stairs
Women’s Weights: 600-lb (272.2-kg) Yoke, 225-lb (102-kg) / 275-lb (124.7-kg) / 325-lb (147.4-kg) Power Stairs
Strongman Results
Mitchell Hooper finally managed to secure an event win for himself, following four consecutive top three finishes. His favorite event by far is the Yoke and he showed why. He secured a massive lead on the first part of the event, which made it easy for him to finish the power stairs without too much rush. His time came out to 35.35 seconds.
Evan Singleton was basically the only man who was even remotely close to Mitchell Hooper. His event strategy was similar, as he was quite rapid with the Yoke as well. However, he finished 1 second behind Hooper and placed second. Thomas Evans was the biggest surprise of the event, beating Bjornsson and Tom Stoltman by less than 0.6 seconds to take third.
- Mitchell Hooper — 35.35 seconds
- Evan Singleton — 36.98 seconds
- Thomas Evans — 41.22 seconds
- Hafthor Bjornsson — 41.32 seconds

- Bobby Thompson — 49.39 seconds
- Luke Stoltman — 54.93 seconds
- Tristain Hoath — 01:02.31
- Pavlo Kordiyaka — CAP + 1
Strongwoman Results
Performing side-by-side, the women gave their all to win the race, but Samantha Belliveau was most committed to it. She was neck-in-neck with Melissa Peacock throughout the entire event, but when it came to pressing the button, Samantha lunged towards it, tossing her body just to get the winning advantage. Her final time came out to 34.87 seconds.
Melissa Peacock’s time shows that the race was quite literally razor-thin, as she finished in second place due to being just 0.06 seconds slower than Belliveau. The rest of the field was not much slower either, since Inez Carrasquillo finished in third with a time of 35.35 seconds.
- Samantha Belliveau — 34.87 seconds
- Melissa Peacock — 34.93 seconds
- Inez Carrasquillo — 35.35 seconds
- Olga Liashchuk — 35.67 seconds
- Lucy Underdown — 37.28 seconds
- Angelica Jardine — 38.08 seconds
- Hannah Linzay — 39.03 seconds
- Rebecca Roberts — 42.67 seconds
- Andrea Thompson — 44.00 seconds
- Donna Moore — 55.45 seconds
Event Six — Circus Medley
Wrapping up the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition, the athletes had to overhead press four implements: a kettlebell, Cyrbell, and two circus axles. The lifts were progressively more difficult, but the goal was to finish as quickly as possible.
Men’s Weights: 210-lb (95-kg) Kettlebell, 253-lb (114.8-kg) Cyrbell, 375-lb (170-kg) and 405-lb (184-kg) Circus Axles

Luke Stoltman was motivated to perform well in front of his home crowd and thus managed to win the event by completing all four implements in just xx. This sparked an electrifying atmosphere in the arena, indicating that everyone was entertained by the incredible feat of strength.
Mitchell Hooper was the only other man apart from Luke Stoltman who managed to complete the event. However, he was just a few seconds slower than the Scottish Strongman. Tom Stoltman finished in third place, as he won the duel against Evan Singleton, which was a decider for who gets the bronze medal overall.
- Luke Stoltman — 1:45.69
- Mitchell Hooper — 1:51.61

Day One (November 8th)
Event One — Deadlift Ladder
The first event of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition was a Deadlift. It gave the athletes three deadlift attempts and allowed them to pick out their own weight jumps. The goal of the event was to establish a one-rep-max, but the only equipment that they were allowed to use was a lifting belt and figure six lifting straps.
Strongman Results
The deadlift was once again a one-man show led by none other than Hafthor Bjornsson. Despite coming out of retirement just a year ago, Hafthor is still the greatest deadlifter in the world. Despite having three attempts at his disposal, Bjornsson needed just two to take the win. On his second attempt, Hafthor locked out 1,010 pounds (458.1 pounds), which crushed the hopes of all other athletes who were chasing him.
Mitchell Hooper settled for second place behind Hafthor Bjornsson. The 2024 Strongest Man on Earth locked out 975 pounds (442.3 kilograms) on his second attempt but decided not to even go for his third after seeing what Hafthor managed to achieve. Mathew Ragg managed to deadlift 950 pounds (430.9 kilograms) to secure third place.
- Hafthor Bjornsson — 1,010 pounds
- Mitchell Hooper — 975 pounds
- Mathew Ragg — 950 pounds

There was a clear favorite for the event win in the women’s division, and that was the current Deadlift World Record holder, Lucy Underdown. Despite great efforts from some other athletes, Lucy still managed to comfortably take the max points by locking out a 685-pound (310.7-kilogram) deadlift. Moreover, Lucy was definitely capable of lifting even more if she needed to.
Andrea Thompson took second place in the opening event of the competition with one of the greatest lifts that she ever achieved. Deadlift has not been her favorite event in the past, but she made some improvements and managed to pull 665 pounds (301.6 kilograms). The third place went to the Ukrainian Strongwoman Olga Liashchuk, who deadlifted 625 pounds (283.5 kilograms)
- Lucy Underdown — 685 pounds

- Hannah Linzay — 545 pounds
- Donna Moore — 525 pounds
- Samantha Belliveau — 505 pounds
Event Two — Grip and Press
The second event of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman featured an interesting concept, as the Strongman and Strongwoman athletes performed it at the same time, side-by-side. They first had to complete a 40-foot Farmer’s Carry, followed by three repetitions on a Log Lift Overhead Press. The goal was to complete the entire event in the shortest time possible.
Men’s Weights: 380-lb (172.4-kg) Log / 350-lb (158.8-kg) Farmer’s Carry (Per Hand)
Women’s Weights: 260-lb (117.9-kg) Log / 225-lb (102-kg) Farmer’s Carry (Per Hand)
Note: The Farmer’s Carry was counted as one rep, along with three reps on the Log Lift. In turn, the athletes had to perform four reps in total to complete the event.
Strongman Results
Thomas Evans made no mistakes in the second event of the day, crushing the Farmer’s Carry and performing three repetitions on the Log Lift without a second of rest in between. Consequently, his time came out to 37.01 seconds, which was just enough to edge out his closest rival.
Mitchell Hooper was even faster than Evans on the Farmer’s Carry, but made a mistake during the Clean portion of his first Log Lift rep, which ended up costing him 1-2 seconds. This was unfortunate for him since he finished the event 0.02 seconds behind Evans. Tom Stoltman had an incredible performance as well, finishing in 39.77 seconds and showing just how much his pressing power has improved.
- Thomas Evans — 37.01 seconds
- Mitchell Hooper — 37.03 seconds
- Tom Stoltman — 39.77 seconds

Strongwoman Results
It did not come as a surprise that Inez Carrasquillo was the winner of the event, considering that she is the current Log Lift World Record holder. That, combined with her quick performance on the Farmer’s Carry, secured her a time of 36.17 seconds and an event win.
Andrea Thompson also displayed impressive overhead pressing power, being the only other woman who managed to complete all three Log Lift reps. She was, however, seven seconds slower than Inez, thus having to settle for second place. Angelica Jardine was close to finishing the event and was fastest out of those who completed two Log Lift repetitions.
- Inez Carrasquillo — 36.17 seconds
- Andrea Thompson — 43.94 seconds
- Angelica Jardine — CAP + 1 (0:54.31)
- Olga Liashchuk — CAP + 1 (1:19.31)
- Hannah Linzay — CAP + 3 (0:07.37)
- Melissa Peacock — CAP + 3 (0:07.41)

- Donna Moore — CAP + 3 (0:10.54)
- Samantha Belliveau — CAP + 3 (0:10.69)
Event Three — Inver Challenge
Wrapping up day one of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition, the athletes were tasked with lifting a series of five progressively heavier stones and loading them onto their respective platforms. It is important to note that the stones were not perfectly round, making the lift even more difficult. The aim of the event was to load all five stones in the shortest time possible. The use of tacky was not allowed.
Men’s Weights: 275-lb (124.7-kg) to 420-lb (190.5-kg)
Women’s Weights: 200-lb (90.7-kg) to 300-lb (136-kg)
Strongman Results
The Strongman division witnessed the return of the former ‘King of Stones’, Hafthor Bjornsson. Although he was the best stone-lifter in his earlier years, many had doubts about how he would stand against the current generation. Well, Hafthor proved that he is still the best, completing each of the five stone lifts in one motion. In turn, he finished with a time of 26 seconds, beating everyone by over five seconds.
Surprisingly, Mitchell Hooper managed to burst into second place on the Inver Challenge with a time of 31 seconds. This meant that he was faster than Tom Stoltman, who has rarely ever lost a stone-loading event in his career. In turn, Tom finished in third place with a time of 36 seconds. He could have finished 2-3 seconds quicker, but he forgot to press the buzzer after lifting the stones.
- Hafthor Bjornsson — 0:27.34
- Mitchell Hooper — 0:31.80
- Tom Stoltman — 0:36.57

- Mathew Ragg — CAP+2 (0:29.31)
- Bobby Thompson — CAP+2 (0:36.02)
- Thomas Evans — CAP+3 (0:13.11)
Strongwoman Results
In an event that saw everyone struggle to lift all five stones, there was one outlier. The athlete in question is Inez Carrasquillo, who managed to secure her second consecutive event win and secure the leading position going into day two. Inez lifted all stones with ease, even the fifth one, which required a lot of effort from other athletes who attempted it. Inez’s time was clocked in at 34 seconds, which left everyone in the arena stunned.
Angelica Jardine secured a second place for herself, finishing the entire stone run in 51 seconds. She lifted the first four stones with ease but had to grind to get the fifth stone up on the platform. Olga Liashchuk also finished all five stones but did so in a time of 1:04 seconds, which was enough to get her into the top three.
- Inez Carrasquillo — 0:34.24
- Angelica Jardine — 0:51
- Olga Liashchuk — 1:04.28
- Rebecca Roberts — 1:24.85
