‘The Superbowl of Powerlifting’, officially named the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2, takes place from October 27-29 and in Manassas, VA. The first of three days featured the Drug-tested athletes, where Sawyer Klatt took the spotlight. He took part in the junior 110-kilogram weight class and had the best performance of his career so far. Although he was incredible overall, he peaked in the deadlift event where he locked out 385 kilograms (848.8 pounds) for a new Junior Drug Tested All-Time World Record.

Being a Junior in powerlifting covers the ages from 20-years-old to 23-years-old. So, Sawyer Klatt has managed to put up the heaviest deadlift among all natural U110KG Juniors that have ever competed. To do so, Sawyer Klatt utilized a sumo stance, a hook grip, and a lifting belt. He ended up locking out 385 kilograms (848.8 pounds), which was significantly more than what the previous record stood at.

The old U110KG Junior All-Time World Record Deadlift belonged to Andrey Belykh, who pulled 365 kilograms (804.7 pounds) at the 2016 FPR Irkutsk Oblast Powerlifting Cup. No one was able to touch it for seven years, but Sawyer Klatt has now proved what a great talent he is.

Sawyer Klatt has only taken part in three sanctioned powerlifting competitions prior to the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2. So, now, with four appearances to his name, Sawyer has also accumulated the same number of victories. That is not where it ends, though, since Sawyer is now officially a Junior All-Time World Record holder in the deadlift event.

Sawyer Klatt is undoubtedly one of the greatest prospects in the sport of powerlifting currently. However, he usually competes just once each year. Regardless, Sawyer still has a few years left as a Junior, meaning that he has enough time to further improve upon his own World Record.
