The 2x Fittest Man On Earth, Justin Medeiros, has spent the last few years at the highest level of CrossFit. So it is no surprise that his competitive nature forced him to test his skills in powerlifting at the 2023 USAPL Holiday Hoist. The competition was held on December 16th, in Meridian, Idaho, and Justin was a part of the raw 90-kilogram weight class. Although he faced some great powerlifters, Justin managed to place second and put up some massive numbers.
Justin Medeiros’ Full Performance
Justin Medeiros came into the competition in incredible physical shape and weighed in at 89.5 kilograms (197.3 pounds). Considering that this was his debut in powerlifting, he performed exceptionally well. Not only did Justin lift massive weights, he also had a near-perfect success rate. He only missed one of his nine attempts. His only unsuccessful attempt came during the deadlifts, where two judges gave him red lights while the third judge thought the deadlift was fine.
Judging by his Instagram post, Justin Medeiros seemed most proud of his squat, as he joined the ‘500-pound’ club. However, both his bench press and deadlift were impressive as well.
“First powerlifting meet in the books🔥 Joined the 500# club with a 512# squat and hit some solid numbers on the bench and squat💪🏼”

Justin Medeiros has spent a significant amount of time preparing for his powerlifting debut. However, as per his post-competition statement, he is now excited to continue his journey in CrossFit.
“Had a lot of fun getting back out on the competition floor and so ready for the 2024 CrossFit games season! LETS FREAKING GO!!!”
The 2023 season was not what Justin Medeiros hoped for, mostly because he placed 13th at the 2023 CrossFit Games, thus ending his two-year reign as the Fittest Man On Earth. So, now that he has reset his mindset, Justin is looking to reclaim the throne in 2024.
Another elite CrossFitter, Laura Horvath, has also utilized this offseason to compete in another sport. However, instead of powerlifting, Laura took part in weightlifting, where she managed to set some new National records.
