Jonathan Cayco has once again justified his nickname “Mr. Bench” at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, which took place on February 10th. He did so by setting a huge 245.5-kilogram (541.2-pound) raw bench press IPF World Record in the 93KG weight class.
Due to his incredible performance, Jonathan Cayco managed to rank extremely high in the men’s division. While he did not manage to get the title, Cayco still finished in a very impressive second-place. Interestingly, he was also in second-place at last year’s edition of the IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
Jonathan Cayco came into the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships with a fully developed game plan. So, when the time came for him to put it in motion, Cayco did not make any mistakes. Consequently, he ended up with a near-perfect performance, having only missed his second squat attempt.

Jonathan Cayco has been putting in some hard work in the gym to get all of his lifts ready for the 2024 IPF Sheffield. However, his bench press was once again the main point of his appearance, as he set a new World Record and got into the title race after it.
Jonathan Cayco’s first bench press attempt weighed 235 kilograms (518.1 pounds), which went up without any effort, exactly what Cayco hoped for. So, having not wasted too much energy, Cayco felt confident of exceeding the U93KG IPF World Record on his second attempt already. So, he loaded 243.5 kilograms (536.8 pounds) on the bar and gave it a shot. Cayco pressed the weight with relative ease once again and claimed the record.
With nothing to lose but everything to gain, Jonathan Cayco decided to add another 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) to the barbell in order to set himself for an exceptional Total. So, while a bench press of 245.5 kilograms (541.2 pounds) has never been approached before, Cayco managed to lock out the lift and improve the U93KG IPF World Record that he set earlier.
