The 2023 CrossFit Games winner, Laura Horvath, has displayed her incredible strength on numerous occasions, but she has recently managed to impress everyone at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships. Laura had made her way to Bulgaria in order to chase fame in Weightlifting as well. She definitely managed to do it, having placed sixth overall in her 76-kilogram weight class.

Laura Horvath’s Performance Recap

Snatch

Laura Horvath opened up with a heavy snatch of 90 kilograms (198.4 pounds) for her first attempt at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships. It looked absolutely incredible, as Laura performed the entire lift in one smooth motion.

Unfortunately, her first attempt ended up being her heaviest, as Laura Horvath went for 94 kilograms (207.2 pounds) on her second and third attempts but couldn’t successfully perform either one. Both of the attempts looked promising, but Laura could not get the barbell to stabilize above her head.

  • 90 kilograms (198.4 pounds)
  • Unsuccessful — 94 kilograms (207.2 pounds)
  • Unsuccessful — 94 kilograms (207.2 pounds)

Clean & Jerk

The bad luck streak carried over to the Clean & Jerk as well, where Laura Horvath failed her first attempt at 115 kilograms (253.5 pounds). In this case, she managed to fully complete the lift, but her jerk portion was not up to regulation.

Laura Horvath did not let the unsuccessful attempt shake her up, as she took on 115 kilograms (253.5 pounds) for the second time and did everything perfectly.

Ultimately, Laura loaded 119 kilograms (262.4 pounds) for her third attempt. She lifted the weight off the floor to her shoulders but was not able to jerk it above her head. So, it was ruled an unsuccessful attempt.

Laura Horvath and Laura Vest Tolstrup battled for sixth place in the 76-kilogram weight class, having both ended up with a 205-kilogram (451.9-pound) Total. However, the rules of the tiebreak state that the athlete who reached the Total first would get the advantage.

In this case, Laura Horvath was the first to reach 205 kilograms (451.9 pounds) in Total. So, she finished in sixth place, while Tolstrup had to settle for seventh.
