Yes guys, even on the weekends, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is getting after it inside his ‘Iron Paradise Gym.’ Taking to Instagram, the Hollywood star offered a glimpse into his new leg training approach he is using to help with joint pain and injuries.

You can ask just about anyone, kid or adult, they’ll recognize who The Rock is. In addition to his unbelievable worldwide fame, The Rock has quickly garnered praise and hype among those in the fitness industry. Sharing regular workout routines and ‘optimal’ breakfasts, the acting juggernaut seeks any advantage he can get when it comes to building his one-of-a-kind physique.

Although he dons a jam-packed schedule, The Rock has continued to keep his fans on the edge of their seats. He recently signed up to portray UFC and MMA legend Mark Kerr in a new movie, leaving fans in shock over his new appearance (don’t look now, but he has a full head of hair).

Acting can be a tough gig, and The Rock learned that lesson the hard way after sustaining an elbow injury. Despite the challenge, his focus hasn’t shifted from bringing the character to life. With fitness playing a critical role in Johnson’s life, he opened up on how he is adjusting his workout routine at 52 to prevent injuries and pain.

After years of grappling with injuries, the wrestling icon says saving his squats for the end of his training has worked wonders:

“Saturday AM leg training. Over the years and dealing with injuries, I’ve found it’s much more effective and optimal for me to do my squats at the very end of my leg workout when my legs are on fire 🔥 and full of blood and lactic acid.”

Using less weight and higher volume, The Rock can still push for gains without risking as much joint pain, which he appreciates considering he has suffered from a litany of pro wrestling injuries, including four knee surgeries, an Achilles tear, quad tear, abductor tear, two disc ruptures in the lower back, and a torn abdomen wall.

“I can go higher volume with less heavy weight on my back – and get greater gains with much less joint pain.

After four knee surgeries, one Achilles tear, quad tear, adductor tear, two disc ruptures in my low back and torn abdomen wall – my body loves this approach and training strategy 😉💪🏾”

  • 15 reps.

“Controlled with slight pause at the bottom.

Have a great weekend and a kick ass productive week. 💪🏾”
