Day One (November 8th)
Event One — Deadlift Ladder
The first event of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman & Strongwoman competition was a Deadlift. It gave the athletes three deadlift attempts and allowed them to pick out their own weight jumps. The goal of the event was to establish a one-rep-max, but the only equipment that they were allowed to use was a lifting belt and figure six lifting straps.

The deadlift was once again a one-man show led by none other than Hafthor Bjornsson. Despite coming out of retirement just a year ago, Hafthor is still the greatest deadlifter in the world. Despite having three attempts at his disposal, Bjornsson needed just two to take the win. On his second attempt, Hafthor locked out 1,010 pounds (458.1 pounds), which crushed the hopes of all other athletes who were chasing him.
Mitchell Hooper settled for second place behind Hafthor Bjornsson. The 2024 Strongest Man on Earth locked out 975 pounds (442.3 kilograms) on his second attempt but decided not to even go for his third after seeing what Hafthor managed to achieve. Mathew Ragg managed to deadlift 950 pounds (430.9 kilograms) to secure third place.

There was a clear favorite for the event win in the women’s division, and that was the current Deadlift World Record holder, Lucy Underdown. Despite great efforts from some other athletes, Lucy still managed to comfortably take the max points by locking out a 685-pound (310.7-kilogram) deadlift. Moreover, Lucy was definitely capable of lifting even more if she needed to.
Andrea Thompson took second place in the opening event of the competition with one of the greatest lifts that she ever achieved. Deadlift has not been her favorite event in the past, but she made some improvements and managed to pull 665 pounds (301.6 kilograms). The third place went to the Ukrainian Strongwoman Olga Liashchuk, who deadlifted 625 pounds (283.5 kilograms)

Event Two — Grip and Press
The second event of the 2024 Rogue Invitational Strongman featured an interesting concept, as the Strongman and Strongwoman athletes performed it at the same time, side-by-side. They first had to complete a 40-foot Farmer’s Carry, followed by three repetitions on a Log Lift Overhead Press. The goal was to complete the entire event in the shortest time possible.
Men’s Weights: 380-lb (172.4-kg) Log / 350-lb (158.8-kg) Farmer’s Carry (Per Hand)
Women’s Weights: 260-lb (117.9-kg) Log / 225-lb (102-kg) Farmer’s Carry (Per Hand)
Note: The Farmer’s Carry was counted as one rep, along with three reps on the Log Lift. In turn, the athletes had to perform four reps in total to complete the event.

Thomas Evans made no mistakes in the second event of the day, crushing the Farmer’s Carry and performing three repetitions on the Log Lift without a second of rest in between. Consequently, his time came out to 37.01 seconds, which was just enough to edge out his closest rival.
Mitchell Hooper was even faster than Evans on the Farmer’s Carry, but made a mistake during the Clean portion of his first Log Lift rep, which ended up costing him 1-2 seconds. This was unfortunate for him since he finished the event 0.02 seconds behind Evans. Tom Stoltman had an incredible performance as well, finishing in 39.77 seconds and showing just how much his pressing power has improved.
- Thomas Evans — 37.01 seconds
- Mitchell Hooper — 37.03 seconds
- Tom Stoltman — 39.77 seconds
- Evan Singleton — 42.13 seconds

It did not come as a surprise that Inez Carrasquillo was the winner of the event, considering that she is the current Log Lift World Record holder. That, combined with her quick performance on the Farmer’s Carry, secured her a time of 36.17 seconds and an event win.
Andrea Thompson also displayed impressive overhead pressing power, being the only other woman who managed to complete all three Log Lift reps. She was, however, seven seconds slower than Inez, thus having to settle for second place. Angelica Jardine was close to finishing the event and was fastest out of those who completed two Log Lift repetitions.
- Inez Carrasquillo — 36.17 seconds
- Andrea Thompson — 43.94 seconds
- Angelica Jardine — CAP + 1 (0:54.31)
