Colton Engelbrecht (125KG) Sets 1,155-kg (2,546.4-lb) Raw W/Wraps Total All-Time World Record at 2024 Big Dogs 5

There have been many incredible powerlifters in the 125-kilogram weight class, but Colton Engelbrecht is arguably the greatest one. If that was not clear before, Colton definitely proved it during the recent 2024 ProRaw Big Dogs 5, which took place on November 23rd in Australia. Colton competed in the Raw With Wraps division and managed to secure a 1,155-kilogram (2,546.4-pound) total. This was far beyond what anyone in his weight class ever achieved, making it an All-Time World Record.

Colton Engelbrecht’s Full Performance

Colton Engelbrecht weighed in at 120.2 kilograms (265 pounds) for his appearance, meaning that he still has the possibility to put on a few more pounds and remain in the U125KG weight class. As for his performance, Colton successfully completed six out of nine attempts, missing one bench press and two deadlifts.

Squat

Colton Engelbrecht’s squat power is simply mind-blowing, as the man is capable of lifting over 1,000 pounds multiple times in a span of just a few minutes. That was exactly the case in his most recent appearance, as he squatted 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds) on his second attempt but improved it by another 5 kilograms (11 pounds) just moments later. This gave him a new competition PR and an incredible start to his competition.

  • 430 kilograms (948 pounds)
  • 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds)
  • 465 kilograms (1,025.1 pounds)

Bench Press

Colton Engelbrecht knew that he needed to perform well on the bench press in order to continue down his path toward a new world record. However, his session on the bench did not start off well, as his opener turned out to be unsuccessful. Luckily, he did not let the setback drag him down, locking out 255 kilograms (562.2 pounds) on the second attempt. That was not the end though, since Colton pressed 260 kilograms (573.2 pounds) to improve his competition PR and wrap up his bench session.

  • Unsuccessful — 230 kilograms (507 pounds)
  • 255 kilograms (562.2 pounds)
  • 260 kilograms (573.2 pounds)

Deadlift

Colton Engelbrecht was confident in his abilities on the deadlift, choosing 430 kilograms (948 pounds) for his first attempt. With this, he managed to confidently beat the Total World Record in his weight class, but had even more aspirations. So, Colton loaded 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds) next. Unfortunately, he failed in deadlifting the mentioned weight on both his second and third attempts, but it is worth noting that he was extremely close to achieving the lift.

Had Colton Engelbrecht locked out 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds) on the deadlift, he would have achieved the Heaviest Raw With Wraps Total in Powerlifting History, beating the number set by the legendary Dan Bell. That was unfortunately not the case, but it shows that Colton has the ambition of claiming this achievement in the future.

Colton Engelbrecht has been competing since 2019, and during the past five years or so he managed to accumulate 17 sanctioned powerlifting appearances. He has an almost perfect record, winning 16 competitions, along with one disqualification back in 2022. However, he now claimed his biggest achievement yet, setting the Total World Record and proving that he is one of the greatest powerlifters to ever step foot on a platform.
