Jesse James West is back investigating steroid use among female bodybuilders. In a recent YouTube video shared on November 24, 2024, West asked female bodybuilders about their natty or not status and discussed the potential dangers of women using performance-enhancing drugs.
“Female bodybuilding is one of the most controversial sports. It seems like almost all of them are on steroids and no one wants to talk about it. Today I’m going to find out how dangerous female steroid use really is,” shares Jesse James West.
While you often think bodybuilders are the epitome of health and fitness, at times, that’s not always how it pans out. To reach and maintain their positions as top-tier athletes in the IFBB Pro League, performance-enhancing drugs are par for the course.
Some categories, such as Women’s Bodybuilding, demand more size and muscle, leading athletes to dabble with substances that can help build quality tissue or even assist with fat-burning goals. This has caused Influencer Jesse James West to launch an investigation into the dangers of PEDs and their potential side effects.

On his first approach asking a woman about her natty or not status, she gave a candid answer.
“Do you think I’m natty? I’m like 200 pounds. I mean you kind of can [assume]. If you’re a female bodybuilder in the Pro league, you’re not natty.”
After asking other women the same question, some fessed up to using steroids while others claimed to be all-natural. A few disclosed which compounds they were taking as well.
“I just take test and GH,” said one woman.
“I’m just taking GH,” said another.
“I’m just on TRT from a doctor. It helped me but I’m naturally very much overweight and worked out a long time and couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t losing weight then I got my blood drawn, and I needed TRT,” says one female bodybuilder. “We’re girls, they are men, so why would we need testosterone? But women need it too.”
West also talked to Hunter Henderson, a credentialed powerlifter who recently tested the waters in Women’s Bodybuilding.
“My coaches are super health conscious. I’ve had coaches in the past who were not. They got me where I needed to be.”
Then, he spoke with doctoral researcher Victoria Felkar about the dangers of females using performance-enhancing drugs.
“My research is on female steroid use,” she shares. “It [education] should be the first thing they do. All too often I see people going into the pursuit of performance enhancement and when they come on to that topic, it’s more or less I want to get jacked. I want to get lean.
They look at these drugs as if it’s like this silver bullet that’s going to get them from point A to point B. A lot of times, not enough questions are asked but what actually that silver bullet is and not only what is it going to do today, but what is it going to do long-term?”
When West asked women about side effects from steroid use, they said the following:
“Not yet,” one shared.
“I’ve just had an easier time recovering and building muscle,” another said.
“Not really, no,” another said.
This hasn’t been the first investigation led by Jesse James West on steroid use. He recently delved into the steroid epidemic among male teenagers, offering insight into why people of younger ages seem to be veering toward PED use. Shockingly, many teenagers are using steroids because it helped them grow a substantial online following, leading to money, fame, and other lucrative opportunities.
Steroid use—regardless of gender—continues to surge within the fitness and bodybuilding community. As a lifelong natural athlete, West remains keenly aware of the significant dangers and side effects these substances can pose.
