Bodybuilder Mike Sommerfeld is enjoying his time away from the stage after the biggest triumph of his budding career. In a recent YouTube video shared on December 7, 2024, he walked fans through his ‘muscle phase’ full day of eating.
Flying under the radar before the 2024 Mr. Olympia, no one was talking about Mike Sommerfeld‘s potential. Fans thought Ramon Queiroz and Urs Kalecinski would push Chris Bumstead to the brink of defeat, but it was actually Sommerfeld who gave the six-time Classic Physique Olympia a run for his money.
He ultimately settled for second place but left a lasting impression on the bodybuilding community. IFBB Pro League Vice President Tyler Manion admitted that Sommerfeld almost defeated Bumstead, but ended the show behind, three poses to two. Questions surround Sommerfeld’s next bodybuilding contest but in the meantime, he provided fans with a detailed account of his latest diet.

Meal 1
- Frozen vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans)
- Butter
- 2 avocados [for guacamole]
- Salt
- 250 grams of egg whites
- 3 whole eggs
- 50 grams of chicken slices [lunch meat]
- 2 slices of whole wheat bread
Sommerfeld kicks off his day with a solid breakfast, which consists of almost 45 grams of protein.
“We [me and my wife] are really picky with breakfast. We’re going to do the egg whites first, and then we’re going to do the whole eggs for another pan to have these sweet nice sunny side up medium rare eggs. We put them on toast, we add some salad, we add some vegetables, and avocado, and chicken slices.”
Post-Workout Snack
- 40 grams of whey
- 2 Rice Krispie Treats
- 4 rice cakes
After his workout, he carbed up with Rice Krispie Treats and rice cakes.
“Fast-acting carbs and we’re going to add four rice cakes today,” he shared.
Meal 2
- 200 grams of white fish
- 200 grams of white rice
- Diet A&W Root Beer
Sommerfeld likes to eat fast-digesting foods like white fish when he’s done with workouts.
“Easy job,” he said. “The reason for white fish or tilapia, I want to make sure I have fast-digesting foods right after the gym.”
Meal 3
- 200 grams of shredded chicken
- Onion, Red bell pepper
- 150 grams white rice
He prefers shredded chicken because it digests more easily. Additionally, Sommerfeld consumes as many different vegetables as possible because he’s trying to rebuild his gut microbiome.
“Let me tell you one thing: as your food is shredded, it gets digested so much easier,” he shared. “Then we add some vegetables this time and I try to use as many different vegetables as possible to rebuild my microbiome basically.”
Meal 4
- 200 grams rice
- 200 grams lean beef
- Veggies
- Sweet and Spicy mustard
While enjoying his fourth meal of the day, Sommerfeld was already thinking about his pre-bed yogurt dish.
“It’s now 11 p.m. there’s just one more meal to go and this is my favorite meal, my pre-bed yogurt, and we’re going to add some nuts and other things here and there.”
Meal 5
- 300 grams yogurt
- 30 grams nuts
- 100 grams blueberries
- 1 cookie
‘Mike the Badass’ finished off his day with yogurt, nuts, and blueberries with a cookie mixed in.
“The final meal, he shares. “That’s it for now. That’s all for my full day of eating right now.”
