Mitchell Hooper is one of the main favorites when it comes to the upcoming 2025 World’s Strongest Man. With the competition taking place on May 15-18 in Sacramento, California, Mitchell is slowly wrapping up his preparation. So, during one of his recent training sessions, Hooper locked out a massive 525-kilogram (1,157.4-pound) elevated deadlift.

One of the events in the finals of the 2025 World’s Strongest Man will be the 18-inch deadlift for max weight. So, Hooper is working hard on building up his one-rep max, hoping to take away the maximum number of points in this event.

In his recent workout, Mitchell Hooper put on a deadlift suit, along with a pair of lifting straps, and went for a mind-blowing 525-kilogram (1,157.4-pound) pull. His bar was actually set to a height of 16.5 inches, making it even more difficult than the intended 18-inch raise. That did not affect Hooper, as he proceeded to crush the lift.

It is important to differentiate Mitchell Hooper’s recent elevated deadlift from the standard deadlift. Namely, he has recently announced a World Record attempt in regard to the standard deadlift, where he hopes to lock out 505 kilograms (1,113.3 pounds). However, for the time being, Hooper is preparing for the World’s Strongest Man competition. That being said, Hooper does believe that some effects will carry over from the elevated deadlift to the standard one.

“I do believe there are some carryover effects, but the most important thing to recognize is that I got 505 just below my knee last year, and now I can pull 525-kg (1,157.4-lb) from my knee up…

There are a lot of components that need to happen, but the one thing that I will say—when I pulled 475-kg (1,047.2-lb) in Australia, my max deadlift was 485-kg (1,069.2-lb) from 18 inches. So logic would dictate, if I’ve got that up to 525-kg (1,157.4-lb) from 16.5 inches, well, maybe 505-kg (1,113.3-lb) is pretty realistic.”

Mitchell Hooper has already had an incredible start to the season, having secured his third consecutive title at the 2025 Arnold Strongman Classic. He now hopes to reclaim his title at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man before proceeding to the remainder of the season.

Mitchell Hooper has made 24 international appearances since making his debut back in 2022. In that short time period, he managed to establish himself as one of the greatest Strongmen in history, basically winning all major competitions at some point. Moreover, Hooper set multiple records already, with one of the most notable ones being the 218-kilogram (480.6-pound) Axle World Record.

Mitchell Hooper is almost done with his preparation for the 2025 World’s Strongest Man and is getting ready to put on a show. He has been placed in a group with Wesley Derwinsky, Paddy Haynes, Bryce Johnson, and Mathew Ragg. So, while he is going up against some great athletes, Mitchell is still expected to make it to the finals. From there, he will attempt to reclaim his title from 2023.
