Could Wesley Vissers become the next Classic Physique Olympia champion? On April 2, Dennis James discussed that possibility and revealed how he could beat reigning champion Ramon Queiroz when they battle in September.
Vissers enjoyed a major bounce-back performance at the 2026 Arnold Classic Ohio. He claimed first place, but didn’t have the chance to face frontrunner Mike Sommerfeld. ‘Mike the Badass’ was forced to withdraw after failing to meet the Classic Physique weight cap.
Vissers kept his momentum alive, winning the 2026 Detroit Pro dominantly. He finally got a shot at Mike Sommerfeld at the 2026 Arnold Classic UK, though he narrowly took second place. With Olympia talks heating up, James laid out how Vissers could claim the sport’s most prestigious crown.
Dennis James Believes Vissers Has to Be at 100% to Dethrone Queiroz at 2026 Olympia, Says ‘99% Not Enough’
Appearing in a recent Prime Time Muscle Podcast, James predicted Vissers could defeat Queiroz at the Olympia, thanks to his width, frame, and lack of weaknesses.
“Yeah, I can see that happening. I can see Wesley being a threat now to beat Ramon, possibly, because he takes up so much space onstage. He’s a tall guy.”
“If you are tall, and you have a filled-out frame, he’s super wide, he has all the body parts. Yeah, his waist might not be the smallest one in the Classic category, but when you look at the way he displays his physique, that’s as Classic as you can get. I think Wesley has a shot.”
He cautioned that Vissers has to be ‘super conditioned’ to get past Queiroz onstage.
“He needs to be super conditioned. There’s no other way. If Wesley is not 100%, 99% is not enough, he needs to be 100% in order to stand next to the best guys and possibly beat them.”
Unlike past seasons, James pointed out that Vissers has put on a few pounds of muscle, which could translate to a stronger package.
“This time, he added at least 3-5 pounds of muscle. He’s bigger now. He filled out his frame even better. He was probably not as conditioned as he was in 2024, but I think he still has some room to get even drier and bring that package to the Olympia, which will be very, very hard to beat,” Dennis James said.
Reigning champ Ramon Queiroz has been transparent about his goals in the division. He intends to rule the Classic Physique Olympia for the next five years. After that, the Brazilian star plans to try his hand in the Men’s Open class.
Vissers beat Queiroz at the 2024 Arnold Classic, so he knows what he’s up against. Fans are curious if he can nail his peak at the 2026 Mr. Olympia, set to take place from September 24-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
