There are hardly any powerlifters as dominant as Agata Sitko is in her weight class. The Polish representative often takes titles with ease, but she recently put up an even more impressive performance. She participated at the 2024 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships, which are taking place on June 15-23, in Druskininkai, Lithuania. She won the gold medal in the U76KG class, setting new raw Squat and Total IPF Open & Junior World Records in the process.
Agata Sitko’s 2024 IPF World Championships Performance Overview
Born in 2002, Agata Sitko was one of the youngest competitors in her weight class. However, her near perfect performance ensured that she took the title with ease. In other words, Agata missed just one of her nine attempts and ended up beating her closest rival, Karlina Tongotea, by a massive margin of 20.5 kilograms (45.2 pounds).
Interestingly, Agata Sitko lost to Karlina Tongotea at last year’s edition of the IPF World Championships. However, while Tongotea performed roughly the same, Agata made tremendous improvements, as evident by the fact that she set new competition PRs in all events apart from the deadlift.
Squat
Agata Sitko was aware of who her biggest rivals were and knew that she had to do some damage control on the squats, as Karlina and some other athletes would be able to outlift her in this event.
So, Agata impressed everyone with her progress on the squats, having managed to lock out a 207.5-kilogram (457.5-pound) lift on her second attempt. She tried to add 2.5 kilograms (5.5 pounds) for her final attempt, but that turned out to be too much on the day.

Bench Press
Sitting in fifth place after the squats, it was time for Agata Sitko to dominate everyone on the bench press and take the lead. She managed to do just that on her very first attempt at 147.5 kilograms (325.2 pounds). However, Agata had two attempts remaining and a burning desire to take the lead and the World Record. In turn, on her second attempt, Agata pressed 152.5 kilograms (336.2 pounds).

On her last bench press attempt of the day, Agata Sitko loaded 155.5 kilograms (342.8 pounds) on the bar, exactly 1-kilogram (2.2 pounds) over the World Record. She then approached the bench with nothing but a pair of wrist wraps to assist her. As expected, she made the press look smooth and easy, also displaying a very decent range of motion.

Agata Sitko also turned out to be the greatest deadlifter in the field, managing to lock out 250 kilograms (551.2 pounds) on her third attempt. This was not only enough for a gold medal, but also for a World Record Total.
