Exercise scientist Dr. Mike Israetel is examining one of the world’s most popular media personalities and conspiracy theorists. On April 11, 2025, he critiqued Alex Jones’ training and supplement use while also offering weight loss advice.
Dr. Mike Israetel is an established physiologist boasting years of experience inside the gym. He’s an amateur bodybuilder and regularly uses science-based research and studies to back up his claims on training, supplementation, and diet.
Alex Jones recently lost a substantial amount of weight, leading Dr. Israetel to examine the methods that helped get him to where he is today. Although Jones’ efforts have been largely inspirational, Dr. Israetel laid out what’s possible for most people aiming to shed weight.

“A pound every other day, that is extremely rapid, and even though it’s inspirational I think it’s awesome that Alex Jones has done this, one thing I’d say for those of you watching is try to shoot for something more realistic. Trying to shoot for a maximum of maybe two pounds per week, sometimes even a pound and a half for even very large people is best practice.”
Next, he explores what the conditions are to make someone prediabetic following Jones’ health workup.
“The way to calculate whether you’re prediabetic or not is if you have an insulin A1C that is not at the diabetic range but is above the normal range. Up to the very limit of the normal range, most medical professionals will tell you that’s just natural human variation, much of the time.”
Then, he examined supplements like iodine and electrolytes, which were used to achieve Jones’ impressive weight loss transformation.
“Do I really need to science these things?” laughs Israetel. “Bioavailable iodine is great, would I call it the missing link of the cell? I don’t know.”
Lastly, he took a look at Jones’ bench press training, where a spotter next to him poured alcohol in his mouth.
“This is the man you want supplements from. I don’t know, I say some crazy shit so I back up. It does not disappoint,” shared Dr. Israetel.

Dr. Israetel’s Rating of Alex Jones
As for his official rating, he gave Jones a 10 out of 10.
“Some vitamins and supplements are pretty cool. Being dedicated to exercise is awesome. Being consistent and regimented is a good thing, and as a human being, I have to commend Alex Jones for losing a bunch of weight and getting back into very good shape. I wish him the best of luck going forward.”
“I rate Alex Jones a 10 out of Alex Jones.”
This is far from the first training routine Dr. Israetel has critiqued. He’s also examined the exercise techniques and diets of several high-profile IFBB Pros, including former Mr. Olympias Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and Dorian Yates.
Significant weight transformations come with a mountain of hurdles, from clean eating to regular exercise. Dr. Israetel was blown away by Jones, who continues to prioritize his health and fitness at 51 years old.
