The 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships took place on March 25-26, 2023, and it is now becoming recognized as one of the most prestigious competitions in the history of powerlifting. The event was sanctioned by the IPF, the biggest drug-tested powerlifting federation in the world. Thus, it is not surprising that some of the world’s greatest athletes participated in this event. One of them was the legendary Amanda Lawrence, who has been the most dominant athlete in the 84-kilogram weight class for some time now. She continued her winning ways in 2023 as well, having just set three new IPF World Records.
Amanda Lawrence opened up her performance with a humongous 246.5-kilogram (543.3-pound) squat, marking her first record of the day. With this, Amanda broke her own IPF Raw World record of 243.5 kilograms (536.8 pounds), which she set back at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.
Continuing her amazing performance, Amanda Lawrence bench presses 130 kilograms (286.6 pounds). Unfortunately, Amanda did not beat her Competition PR, but still paved the way for herself to set a massive Total.
Approaching the final event, Amanda Lawrence remained composed and managed to lock out a massive 268.5-kilogram (591.9-pound) raw deadlift. With this feat, Amanda further improved yet another IPF World Record which was previously in her possession. The old record stood at 260.5 kilograms (570.4 pounds) and was set at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships as well.

Finally, after successfully completing all nine attempts across three events, Amanda Lawrence also broke the Total IPF World Record. With an accumulated weight of 645 kilograms (1,421.9 pounds), Amanda outperformed the previous record by 9.5 kilograms (20.9 pounds).
