Anatolii Novopismennyi has been the best powerlifter in the 105-kilogram weight class for some time and has once again displayed his greatness at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. The competition took place on February 10th and Anatolii left his mark on it during the squat event, where he managed to set a 363-kilogram (800.2-pound) U105KG IPF World Record.

Anatolii Novopismennyi came into the 2024 IPF Sheffield injured, as per the statement of the official commentator of the competition. He talked to Novopismennyi, who told him:

“Yes I was injured; I am still slightly injured.”

However, despite describing his lead up to the competition as “hardest preparation because of pain!” Anatolii Novopismennyi did not let that stop him from squatting a weight that no one from his weight class has ever done before.

Anatolii Novopismennyi successfully performed all three of his squat attempts, the heaviest of which came out to 363 kilograms (800.2 pounds). His walkout with the barbell on his back looked a bit shaky, but Anatolii’s squat motion itself looked extremely smooth.

*Anatolii Novopismennyi also held the previous U105KG IPF Squat World Record of 362.5-kg (799.1-lb). He set that record at the 2023 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

The details of Anatolii Novopismennyi’s injury were not revealed, but it is clear that he has performed extremely well considering his situation. He just failed one attempt in the bench press and deadlift events. Unfortunately, the failed deadlift attempt also cost him a new U105KG IPF World Record Total. However, there is no doubt that the Total record will fall soon enough as well.
