Ten exercise slider models arranged on a gym bench, including round discs, covered pairs and yellow-rimmed shaped platforms
Exercise sliders from Gaiam, BODi, SKLZ, Gliding, Power Systems, Synergee, Elite Sportz, AzureLife, Iron Core Fitness and BOSU.

Buy exercise sliders for the floor you have. A plastic disc that moves across carpet can damage exposed wood, while a soft fabric underside may drag on a rug. The ten pairs below cover reversible discs, removable covers, linked platforms and larger hard-floor gliders without taking over your home gym.

Written by Tom Miller, CSCS. Updated: October 2026.

Short on time? Gaiam Core Sliding Discs are our overall choice: a seven-inch pair with clear instructions for using plastic against carpet and foam against suitable hard floors. Choose Gliding’s nine-inch hardwood pair for a larger disc, SKLZ for clip-together platforms, or Power Systems Versa Slides Carpet/Turf for a dedicated carpet setup. Check your floor finish before using any pair.

How We Chose

We compared floor compatibility, contact materials, dimensions, included accessories and instructions. A removable cover or a linked shape earns more attention here than a different color of the same disc. Scores reflect those buying differences and the clarity of the floor guidance. Most round seven-inch pairs serve a similar purpose, so compare their current prices before paying extra for branding. None of these discs includes adjustable resistance, and none guarantees a scratch-free floor.

Our Verdict

Gaiam Core Sliding Discs

A seven-inch reversible pair with clear carpet and hard-floor instructions makes Gaiam a sensible first slider purchase.

Best for: Home workouts split between carpet and suitable smooth hard floors

Our Top Picks

Best Overall: Gaiam Core Sliding Discs

Gaiam Core Sliding Discs, Set of 2

Gaiam Core Sliding Discs, Set of 2

Best Overall
4.4/5

Two seven-inch discs with plastic for carpet and a foam face for suitable hardwood, laminate or tile surfaces.

Pros

  • Seven-inch diameter
  • Two floor-contact faces
  • Exercise guide included

Cons

  • No removable fabric covers
  • Seven-inch footprint may feel small under larger shoes

Gaiam gets the basic purchase right: two seven-inch discs, an exercise guide and separate contact faces for carpet and hard floors. Put the smooth plastic against carpet; put the foam against a compatible hard surface. Your hand or foot rests on the opposite face, so change orientation when you move rooms.

Compared with BODi, you have no loose booties to store or fit before training. The tradeoff is a smaller footprint than Gliding’s nine-inch discs. Skip this if your shoes need more room, your tile has pronounced grout lines, or your floor manufacturer prohibits sliding equipment. A reversible disc still needs a clean, compatible surface.

Best Removable Covers: BODi Strength Slides and Booties

BODi Strength Slides with 2 Booties

BODi Strength Slides with 2 Booties

Best Removable Covers
4.3/5
Check current price

One pair of Strength Slides with two removable booties, intended for level carpet or suitable smooth laminate according to the safety insert.

Pros

  • Two slides plus two covers
  • Floor-specific safety instructions
  • Covers remove for carpet

Cons

  • Not for rough tile or grout
  • Manual limits use to demonstrated BODi exercises

BODi includes two slides and two soft booties, not four sliders. Its safety insert specifies covers on smooth laminate and covers off on carpet. That distinction matters more than the promotional claim that the pair suits a variety of surfaces.

The manual excludes uneven or rough surfaces, including tile or grout, and outdoor use. It also restricts exercises to BODi’s demonstrated movements. Skip this if you want unrestricted workout programming or plan to train across grouted tile. Gaiam has no removable covers; BODi makes more sense if you prefer a fitted fabric layer and will follow its program-specific instructions. Check the delivered color if appearance matters: product photos can differ.

Best Clip-Together Design: SKLZ Slidez

SKLZ Slidez Standard Use, Yellow

SKLZ Slidez Standard Use, Yellow

Best Clip-Together Design
4.4/5
Check current price

Two shaped platforms with molded tread and integrated fasteners, allowing separate use or a connected setup for bilateral movements.

Pros

  • Integrated linking fasteners
  • Molded contact tread
  • Separate or connected use

Cons

  • Bulkier shape than simple circular discs
  • Standard version still needs a floor compatibility check

SKLZ separates itself from the round pairs with fasteners that connect its two platforms. You can keep them apart or link them for movements that use both hands or feet together. The molded top has a tread pattern rather than Gaiam’s plain circular foam face.

SKLZ lists an 88% high-density polyethylene and 12% EVA construction. The linked design earns its place if you will use it; otherwise, a basic pair stores with less fuss. Skip this if you only need independent heel slides or want soft removable floor covers. This is the Standard Use version, and its broad surface description does not override your flooring manufacturer’s restrictions.

Best Large Hard-Floor Discs: Gliding Hardwood/Tile Pair

Gliding 9-Inch Hardwood/Tile Sliders, Pair with 4 Videos

Gliding 9-Inch Hardwood/Tile Sliders, Pair with 4 Videos

Best Large Hard-Floor Discs
4.4/5
Check current price

A nine-inch pair with nylon covers and foam interiors for compatible hardwood and tile floors, supplied with four streaming workouts.

Pros

  • Nine-inch diameter
  • Nylon cover with foam interior
  • Four streaming workouts included

Cons

  • Hard-floor version is not the carpet version
  • Larger discs need more storage space

Gliding’s nine-inch diameter gives you about 65% more circular area than a seven-inch disc. That is useful room for hands or shoes, though extra area alone does not establish better grip or balance. The flexible nylon-covered construction differs from the rigid plastic discs elsewhere on this list.

The selected pair is for hardwood and tile, with four streaming workouts included. Gliding sells a separate carpet version; do not assume this pair becomes a carpet slider when flipped. Skip this if carpet is your main workout surface or your storage pouch only fits seven-inch discs. Power Systems Carpet/Turf is the clearer floor-specific alternative for a rug.

Best Dedicated Carpet Pair: Power Systems Versa Slides Carpet/Turf

Power Systems Versa Slides, Carpet/Turf

Power Systems Versa Slides, Carpet/Turf

Best Dedicated Carpet Pair
4.3/5
Check current price

Two 7.5-inch carpet/turf slides with a hard PVC underside and high-density foam top; the wood/vinyl version is a different model.

Pros

  • Seven-and-a-half-inch diameter
  • Hard PVC bottom
  • High-density foam top

Cons

  • Selected version is for carpet or turf
  • Hard-floor model is a separate purchase

Power Systems makes the floor choice explicit. The Carpet/Turf version measures 7.5 inches and combines a hard PVC underside with a high-density foam top. Its separate Wood/Vinyl version uses different contact materials and measures seven inches.

Do not flip the selected carpet model and treat its top as an approved hardwood sliding surface. Gaiam and BOSU are the more convenient choices if you switch between rooms. Skip this if you train on wood or vinyl, or want one reversible pair for both floor types. For a dedicated carpet area, the extra half-inch is a modest size increase over the common seven-inch pairs.

Best Simple Pair with a Starter Guide: Synergee Core Sliders

Synergee Jet Black Core Sliders

Synergee Jet Black Core Sliders

Best Simple Starter Pair
4.2/5
Check current price

A seven-inch dual-sided pair with a five-exercise manual, using the plastic side on carpet and the soft side on suitable hard floors.

Pros

  • Seven-inch pair
  • Five-exercise manual
  • Reversible floor-contact faces

Cons

  • No linking mechanism or removable covers
  • Basic design overlaps other seven-inch pairs

Synergee includes two seven-inch discs and a manual covering five exercises. Use the plastic side against carpet and the softer face against suitable hardwood, laminate or tile. It is a straightforward alternative to Gaiam if you want a short printed starting point.

The five-move guide is narrower than AzureLife’s twelve-exercise sheet, but a longer list does not mean a better training plan. Choose movements you can control and progress. Skip this if you want linked platforms, removable covers or a larger nine-inch contact area. Compare the delivered price with Gaiam and BOSU because the basic round-disc format overlaps.

Best No-Extras Alternative: Elite Sportz Core Sliders

Elite Sportz Equipment Core Sliders

Elite Sportz Equipment Core Sliders

Best No-Extras Alternative
4.1/5
Check current price

A basic two-disc set with separate plastic and soft floor-contact faces for carpet and compatible hard-floor workouts, without removable covers.

Pros

  • One pair of reversible discs
  • Simple plastic and soft-face design
  • No separate covers to manage

Cons

  • No linked platform option
  • No special advantage over similar basic pairs

Elite Sportz keeps the purchase to a reversible pair with plastic and soft contact faces. You do not need to commit to a linked design or manage BODi’s separate booties. Turn the discs to match the floor and keep the travel path clear.

There is little reason to pay a large premium over another suitable basic pair. Gaiam has a stated seven-inch diameter and included guide; SKLZ adds a connection mechanism. Skip this if you need that larger platform or expect a dedicated workout course. Choose Elite Sportz when its price and simple format suit your room, not because generic full-body claims make it more effective.

Best Printed Exercise Variety: AzureLife Core Sliders

AzureLife Dual-Sided Core Sliders, Blue

AzureLife Dual-Sided Core Sliders, Blue

Best Printed Exercise Variety
4.1/5
Check current price

Two seven-inch blue sliders with an illustrated twelve-exercise guide and separate plastic and foam contact surfaces for floor-specific home workouts.

Pros

  • Seven-inch diameter
  • Twelve-exercise illustrated guide
  • Pair of reversible discs

Cons

  • Plastic can damage exposed flooring
  • Guide is not personalized instruction

AzureLife includes a twelve-exercise sheet with its seven-inch pair, compared with Synergee’s five-exercise manual. That gives you more movement examples to consider without requiring a screen beside your workout area. It does not tell you which exercises suit an injury or your current strength.

The brand warns that the hard plastic can scratch flooring. Keep that side against suitable carpet and use the foam face on compatible hard floors. Skip this if you cannot risk marks on a delicate finish or want supervised exercise instruction. A clean underside and a small compatibility check matter more than the number of exercises printed in the box.

Best Explicit Mat Guidance: Iron Core Fitness Gliding Discs

Iron Core Fitness Dual-Sided Gliding Discs

Iron Core Fitness Dual-Sided Gliding Discs

Best Explicit Mat Guidance
4.1/5
Check current price

A two-disc pair with plastic for low-pile rugs and a softer face for suitable hard floors; thick rubber gym mats may impede sliding.

Pros

  • Two reversible discs
  • Lists low-pile rug use
  • Warns about thick rubber mats

Cons

  • Thick gym mats can reduce movement
  • Broad surface claims still require checking

Iron Core’s useful detail is its warning about thick rubber gym mats. Covering a room with protective flooring can make it a poor slider surface. Its instructions distinguish the plastic face for low-pile rugs from the softer side for wood, tile or laminate.

That guidance also applies to your buying decision: first identify a compatible clear area outside your thick lifting mats. Skip this if rubber flooring covers your entire workout space or your rug has a deep pile. Dedicated Power Systems Carpet/Turf slides are another option for the right surface, but neither product can guarantee movement across every carpet texture.

Best Compact Pair with a Stated Warranty: BOSU Core Sliders

BOSU Core Sliders, 2 Pack

BOSU Core Sliders, 2 Pack

Best Stated Warranty
4.2/5
Check current price

Two seven-inch BOSU discs, each one-quarter inch thick, with a soft face for smooth floors and plastic for carpet.

Pros

  • Seven inches by one-quarter inch
  • Pair with two contact faces
  • Ninety-day limited warranty

Cons

  • No removable covers or connection
  • Warranty does not guarantee floor protection

BOSU states a seven-inch diameter and a quarter-inch thickness in its product imagery. Two flat discs fit a small storage space without the bulk of a balance trainer. These are sliders, not miniature versions of BOSU’s inflatable dome.

The current brand specifications include a ninety-day limited warranty. Read its terms rather than treating it as insurance against floor damage. Skip this if you need a nine-inch disc, detachable covers or SKLZ’s linked configuration. Compared with Synergee and Gaiam, BOSU is another basic reversible pair, so its current price and warranty terms should guide the choice.

Choose by Floor Before Shape

On suitable carpet, most reversible sliders use the hard plastic face down. On smooth hard flooring, they use a soft face or a fitted cover. Gliding Hardwood/Tile and Power Systems Carpet/Turf are floor-specific exceptions, not two-way substitutes. Check the exact version in your basket.

Tile joints, rough concrete, grit and uneven boards can interrupt movement or cause damage. BODi excludes rough tile and grout. Do not assume another manufacturer’s broad tile claim approves your floor. Ask the flooring supplier if you have a delicate coating or newly finished wood.

A thick exercise mat may stop a disc instead of protecting the floor beneath it. Keep a mat under your stationary knees or elbows where appropriate, with the sliding path on a compatible surface. Our home gym flooring guide covers broader floor protection, but lifting mats and slider surfaces have different jobs.

Start with Control

Learn a stable plank before adding a moving foot or hand. ACE’s plank instructions emphasize a stiff torso, shoulders over the elbows and avoiding a sagging lower back. Shorten your movement or choose an easier exercise when you cannot maintain position. Stop if you feel pain, and seek qualified guidance if symptoms persist.

Follow the exercise instructions supplied with your chosen pair. BODi specifically calls for starting with one slide and using a chair for balance; its manual also limits use to its demonstrated exercises. More speed or a longer reach is not a useful progression if you lose control.

Sliders can add variety to strength sessions, but they do not replace a complete program. HHS recommends muscle-strengthening activity at least two days each week alongside aerobic activity. Add pulling and other movements that sliders cannot cover well. Resistance bands expand those options without much storage, while an ab wheel serves a different rolling progression.

Accessories Worth Paying For

Buy removable covers if your selected pair requires them for your hard floor. Buy a larger disc if your hand or shoe placement calls for more room. SKLZ’s connection mechanism changes how you can arrange the platforms, so it is a more meaningful upgrade than another color of a plain round disc.

A printed exercise sheet helps you remember movement options, but it cannot watch your form. A video bundle may need an internet connection or an account, so check access instructions before relying on it away from home. Keep the included safety insert with the pair, especially when several people share the equipment and train on different floors.

You need room for the full sliding path, not just a place to stand. Move furniture and loose rugs out of that path before starting. Avoid crossing from carpet onto wood during a repetition: the required contact face can change at the boundary. Pack both discs together after training so the next session does not start with a missing half of the pair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will exercise sliders scratch hardwood?

They can. Hard plastic, trapped grit and damaged undersides can mark a floor. Use only the designated contact face or cover, follow the flooring manufacturer’s guidance and check compatibility in a discreet area. No pair here earns an unconditional scratch-free claim.

Are seven-inch or nine-inch sliders better?

Seven-inch discs need less storage space. Nine-inch discs give you more placement room, but you still need to follow the product’s foot-position instructions. For example, BODi warns against placing the entire foot on its slides. Size alone does not establish safety or grip.

How should I clean and store them?

Remove grit from the floor and inspect the contact faces before each session. Follow the specific care instructions for covers and foam. BODi calls for a damp cloth followed by immediate drying, with no chemicals or extreme heat. Store the pair dry and away from children; replace damaged discs rather than sliding over cracks or sharp edges.

Can I use sliders on thick carpet?

Do not assume so. Carpet pile, padding and seams affect movement, and a disc can catch even when its plastic face is down. Iron Core specifies low-pile rugs. Check compatibility with gentle pressure before attempting a loaded movement, and choose another exercise if the disc catches or tips.

Bottom Line

Gaiam is the sensible starting point for a reversible seven-inch pair. Choose a different model for a specific reason: BODi’s removable covers, SKLZ’s linking fasteners, Gliding’s larger hard-floor design or Power Systems’ dedicated carpet construction. Buy one compatible pair and spend the rest of your effort learning controlled movements.
