Betty Aborah is a name that will certainly become one of the most prominent in the powerlifting scene, as she is already performing some major feats of strength. Most notably, during her recent training session, Betty managed to lock out a humongous 240-kilogram (529.1-pound) deadlift. With this lift, she Unofficially broke the U63KG IPF Open World Record, despite being a Junior powerlifter.
Betty Aborah competes in the 63-kilogram weight class, and her preferred way of deadlifting is with a sumo stance and a hook grip, which allows her to hold on to the bar despite the humongous weights. This is obviously extremely efficient for her as well, judging by her new PR of 240 kilograms (529.1 pounds).
It took some effort from Betty Aborah to get the bar going off the floor. However, once it started moving, Betty made it look effortless. What makes it more impressive is that it exceeds the U63KG IPF Open World Record by a tremendous 9 kilograms (19.8 pounds). Moreover, that record is held by the iconic French powerlifter, Prescilia Bavoil, as she set it at the 2022 IPF Arnold Sports Festival.
It doesn’t end there, as Betty Aborah’s 240-kilogram (529.1-pound) deadlift looks even more impressive when compared to the U63KG IPF Junior World Record, which is the division she competes in. In fact, it unofficially exceeds that record by 24 kilograms (52.9 pounds) as well.
