A 19-year-old Brazilian bodybuilder named Matheus Pavlak has tragically passed away. According to initial reports from Daily Mail on September 3, 2024, Pavlak was found dead in his home after suffering from a heart attack.
In five years, Pavlak managed to transform his body after grappling with obesity. Bodybuilding became his haven, and he embraced the lifestyle wholeheartedly. He regularly competed in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, which is where he lived. He found remarkable success, having laid claim to a victory at the U23 contest to become Mr Blumenau in his home city.
Pavlak, in the face of adversity, rose to the occasion in bodybuilding. In May, earlier this year, he took home fourth place and sixth place at other regional competitions. However, disaster struck on Sunday afternoon inside his home, as he was found dead after suffering from a heart attack.

‘He had a brilliant future ahead of him as a respected athlete.
‘God has his plans but it’s hard to understand, I don’t have the words to explain the weight I feel in my heart.
‘I was Matheus’ first coach and I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to have cared for him like a son.
‘I promised him that one day he would beat me and said and done, the first time we competed together against each other, he ended up winning.”
While he no longer served as his trainer, Chegatti sent a message of comfort to his grieving family.
‘He was no longer a part of my team, but I know I managed to form a great athlete. May God comfort his family and take care of our boy,’ he shared.
Matheus Pavlak often took to social media to show off his training efforts, physique, and commitment to a healthier lifestyle since his battle with obesity. His efforts inspired countless fans who followed him closely, paying attention to each of his triumphs on the bodybuilding stage.
As a result of this tragedy, questions and speculations have surfaced as to what caused his demise. Most notably, people believe the use of performance-enhancing drugs could have contributed to his death. Steroids have remained a controversial part of the sport for years, with many athletes dying from their use, including Classic Physique standout Neil Currey, whose parents blame PEDs for his downfall.
Other Brazilian bodybuilders have died too soon as well, such as Antonio Souza, who also suffered from a heart attack shortly after winning a bodybuilding contest. He felt a ‘strong pain’ in his chest moments before competing for the very last time. He was only 26 years old.
We at Fitness Volt extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Matheus Pavlak. He continues to inspire others who have also struggled with obesity challenges.
