New year, new Strongman competitions and the first major contest for this year is Britain’s Strongest Man contest, which will be happening this weekend. Lots of famous strength athletes that compete regularly on much bigger scales will be attending and competing. This means that for the winner of Britain’s Strongest Man and top placed guys this will be a great test run to see where they are strength-wise and what to expect from further contests. So without further ado, let’s see who’s competing this weekend, what are the events and who I think will be the overall winner.
BSM 2020 Competitors:
Adam Bishop Tom Stoltman Luke Stoltman John Pollock Ryan England Terry Hollands Mark Felix Mark Steele Paul Smith Aaron Page Luke Richardson Ben Brunning
Since this is a regional Strongman competition, some of these guys are not really world-famous names. The biggest names are the eldest(53) competitors in the field Mark Felix, the Strongman veteran and gentle giant, Terry Hollands and The pride of Scotland-Stoltnam Brothers. The elder of the Stoltman Brothers(Luke, 35) has been a defending champion of Scotland’s Strongest Man title from 2013 until 2016 when the younger brother(Tom, 25) finally beat the older brother for the tile.
BSM 2020 Events:
Now this one’s a bit tricky since for some reason neither Giants live(event organizer) website neither any of the competitors posted the event line up. But, like any wannabe journalist, this didn’t stop me from doing some digging and finding some info. So the following event line up is NOT confirmed, it is my pure speculation based on what I’ve seen from the competitors training for and the little info Giants live gave on their website.
Log press for reps, Atas stones, Conan’s wheel, hammer hold/deadlift, Carrie event(cart, shield, yoke or medley)

Prediction:
Firstly, let’s see what the boys have to say about each other’s chances of winning.
From the looks of it, the top 3 names that are on everyone’s mouths were Luke&Tom Stoltman and Adam Bishop. I would tend to agree with this because Adam Bishop is last year’s runner up and the defending champ isn’t defending the title this year. This is exactly how the current champ (Graham Hicks) won last year’s Britan’s, Eddie Hall, his main rival for the throne, stopped competing.
Stoltman brothers have been getting a massive wave of popularity and accomplishments in the past few years and the younger of the Highlanders, Tom is only 25 years old competing against guys like Thor Bjornsson, Brian Shaw and others. It’s only a matter of time before he gets his break and wins something big.
The same thing goes for Luke, he’s 10 years older, but in Strongman years, he’s right around his prime competition years. He and his brother have been had one hell of a run in 2019, they placed 1st and 2nd at Scotland’s Strongest Man, finished 2nd(Tom) and 3rd(Luke) at WUS Dubai with Luke finishing 7th at WSM and 4th at BSM. So it’s not a big jump in conclusion when saying they are heavy favorites at this weekend’s Britains’s Strongest Man.
Official Prediction; Bishop gets the “w” and the Stoltman’s get 2nd and 3rd place.
