The anticipation surrounding the 2024 New York Pro continues to build as athletes prepare to take the stage. In a recent YouTube video, bodybuilding coach Chris Aceto discusses whether Quinton Eriya can defeat Nick Walker when they battle it out on May 18.
As a thriving Men’s Open IFBB Pro, Nick Walker‘s career has been nothing short of extraordinary. Having finished as high as third place on the prestigious Mr. Olympia stage, ‘The Mutant’ continues to garner praise and popularity as he hunts down the sport’s greatest honor. In 2023, Walker took second behind Samson Dauda at the Arnold Classic.
All signs pointed to his 2023 Mr. Olympia entry until disaster struck; he was sidelined from the competition after suffering a devastating calf and hamstring tear. Now, eager to qualify for this year’s Mr. Olympia, Walker intends to make a statement at the New York Pro by becoming a two-time champion. However, if he hopes to take home the big win, he’ll have to get past fellow Open threat, Quinton Eriya, known for his symmetry, stature, and proportions.
Chris Aceto Talks 2024 New York Pro, Says Quinton Eriya Can’t Beat Nick Walker
The latest to take a closer look at the showdown in New York is coach Chris Aceto, who boasts decades of experience coaching Pros from varying IFBB Pro categories. Aceto discussed how Nick Walker is knocking out his qualification early in the bodybuilding season to possibly rest and prepare for the 2024 Mr. Olympia.

“Maybe his thought process was get the qualification, get it out of the way, you know early. That way, I have time to put the body in neutral or whatever he wants to do.”
“Maybe, go up a little bit and get ready for the Olympia as opposed to another 12 or 15 weeks from now, you know what I mean? A lot can happen. I think the wisdom in it is to get it out of the way. Get qualified and reset everything for the Olympia.”
When it came to questioning Nick Walker’s ability to defeat Quinton Eriya, Aceto was quick to remind Dave Palumbo where he stands on the topic of Walker’s physique and capabilities.
“Can he [Quinton Eriya] beat Nick Walker?” asks Dave Palumbo.
“How many times have I said no?” says Aceto.
“Nick’s front double will neutralize that down to nothingness. Nick is too big right now.”
However, Chris Aceto doesn’t believe Nick Walker is invincible, adding that with the right look, Andrew Jacked could get the better of him.
“Yeah [Andrew Jacked can beat Nick Walker]. He’s way bigger, way taller, way, they aren’t in the same stratosphere in terms of size. Andrew has to be at his all-time best to beat Nick,” said Aceto. “You’ll see at the Pittsburgh because you’re going to see Nick Walker standing next to Andrew Jacked.”
Chris Aceto isn’t the only voice in bodybuilding giving their thoughts on the upcoming New York Pro. Of late, retired IFBB Pros Chris Cormier, Milos Sarcev, and Dennis James debated whether Quinton Eriya truly stands a chance against Nick Walker in just a few weeks. Although James and Cormier believe Eriya’s shape could help him against ‘The Mutant,’ Sarcev wasn’t convinced that he would have the leg volume needed to defeat the 2021 Arnold Classic winner.
With less than three weeks until some of the best Open competitors in the league wage war, fans and bodybuilders look forward to seeing the action unfold, including Chris Aceto, who is not convinced Eriya can pull off the upset when it’s time to step on stage.
