Up and coming Christina Lazo has been working hard to improve lately. This was put on display big time, after a recent squat training session.
As a 57kg powerlifter, Lazo has had a mix bag of performances on the platform. Her best performance in her career so far, was scoring second at the Arnold Classic, falling just behind Brittany Suplicki. However what has made her stand out in the minds of fans, is the fact that she has been doing a ton of improving in the gym since then. She is regularly seen moving some serious weight in training, and it has made the 32-year old someone to keep an eye on in the future.
The full extent of her growth and improvement was seen when Christina Lazo shared a recent squat session to her Instagram. Here she showed three of the five different variations of squats that she likes to do in training. However what stood out the most, was her first video of a low bar squat, where she took 341lb for a ride for four reps.
“Squat Variations
3 out of the 5; I do weekly.Low Bar: 155kg/341lbs x 4
Frontsies: 105kg/231lbs x 4
High Bar: 127.5kg/280.5lbs x 8 + 1”

This was certainly a solid performance from Lazo, as were the other two sets that she did. The weight moved a little slowly, but it was a consistent speed throughout all four reps. All in all, she looked fairly good.
Not only did Lazo hit this set, but this came just a few days after she hit a PR with squat reps. This post showed her hit a respectable 363lb squat. Additionally she smoked her personal record by squatting 302.5lb for eight reps.
“165.0kgs/363.0lbs 💨
137.5kgs/302.5lbs x 8 (PR)Oh. Okieeeeee. 🙈”
There is still a lot of work for Christina Lazo to do before she reaches the limits of her skills. However she has clearly been improving and getting better, day over day. It makes the idea of seeing her compete again all the more exciting and intriguing.
