Colton Engelbrecht has shared countless impressive lifts in recent months while preparing for his first competition of the year. Well, after concluding his prep, Colton made his way to Russia, where he competed at the 2026 Siberian Power Show on March 28th. He definitely did not disappoint, having managed to lock out a massive 520-kilogram (1,146.4-pound) Sumo Deadlift with lifting straps.

Firstly, it is important to note that Colton Engelbrecht’s massive deadlift was deemed unofficial since the use of lifting straps is completely forbidden in the sport of powerlifting. However, the power needed to complete such a lift shows that Colton’s pull is one of the greatest feats of strength ever seen.

What makes Colton Engelbrecht’s lift even more impressive is the fact that he competed in a full powerlifting competition beforehand. So, he performed a total of nine attempts across the squat, bench press, and deadlift before going for an exhibition deadlift of 520 kilograms (1,146.4 pounds).

Engelbrecht used a lifting belt and a pair of lifting straps to complete the 520-kilogram (1,146.4-pound) deadlift. His technique relied on the sumo stance, which is a key part of powerlifting. The lift itself was incredibly impressive, as Colton first made sure to pull the slack out of the bar, after which he quickly reached lockout.

As for his performance in the full-power competition, Colton Engelbrecht ended up squatting 430 kilograms (948 pounds), bench pressing 275 kilograms (606.3 pounds), and deadlifting 450 kilograms (992 pounds). All lifts were done in accordance with the powerlifting regulations, giving Colton a 1,155-kilogram (2,546.3-pound) Raw Total. This exceeds the U140KG All-Time World Record.

It is also noteworthy that Colton Engelbrecht had two attempts at a 500-kilogram (1,102.3-pound) raw deadlift. His first attempt saw him lift half a ton off the floor and even come within a few inches of lockout. However, the barbell ended up slipping from his hand, resulting in an unsuccessful lift. His grip failed him once again on the second attempt.

Colton Engelbrecht’s powerlifting career has been spectacular so far, featuring over 15 sanctioned appearances, dozens of incredible lifts, and countless official and unofficial world records. The deadlift is the standout event for Colton, but his greatness stems from consistency, as he is among the greatest squatters and bench pressers in the world as well.

Colton Engelbrecht’s 520-kilogram (1,146.4-pound) sumo deadlift with lifting straps shows that he has enough strength to pull over half a ton. So, it seems like it is only a matter of time before he deadlifts 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) raw. Engelbrecht has already achieved the lift in training but was hoping to perform it on a competition platform as well.
