Top 10 Effective CrossFit Bodyweight Workouts

For some of CrossFit's most challenging workouts all you need is yourself.

Weights? What are those? Sometimes in CrossFit all you need is yourself to push your limits. CrossFit Bodyweight Workouts are way to get your exercise on without needing a lot of equipment.

In fact zero equipment necessary is the norm for the bodyweight workout below. Looking to switch up your routine? Want to workout on your movements, flexibility, and endurance? Try out the Top 10 Difficult CrossFit Bodyweight Workouts below.

1. Crossfit Bodyweight Workouts – Murph
For time:

1 mile Run (1.6 km)
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 mile Run

The Murph is labeled a Hero workout in honor of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who died in Afghanistan on June 28th, 2005. In addition, this workout was made famous during the 2015 CrossFit Games. Score for time.

2. The Chelsea
EMOM for 30 min:

5 Pull-ups
10 Push-ups
15 Squats

Pull-ups, push-ups, and squats are key. Therefore,  all three old exercises are a running theme here. Score for time.

3. Hero WOD JT
For time:

21-15-9 reps of:
Handstand push-ups
Ring dips
Push-ups

JT honors Petty Officer 1st Class Jeff Taylor who passed away in 2005. In other words, this is a Hero Workout with difficult upper body tests. Score for time.

4. CrossFit Regionals 2014 Event 5
For time:

10 rounds:
1 legless rope climb
60m sprint

The CrossFit Regionals featured a very challenging legless event. However, the entire workout consisted of just one exercise, legless rope climbs.

5. The Mary
AMRAP for 20 minutes:

5 Handstand push-ups
10 1-legged (pistol) squats
15 Pull-ups

You already remember pistol squats from this year;s round of Open Workouts. For instance, in the Mary pistol squats are back to wreck your lower body. Score for time.

6. Hero WOD Garrett
For time:

Three rounds:
75 Squats
25 Ring handstand push-ups
25 L-pull-ups

This workout honors Marine Capt. Garrett T. “Tubes” Lawton who died in 2008. Above all, ring push-ups are the greatest challenge here. Score for time.

7. The Tabata Something Else
Complete all 32 intervals:

Tabata Pull-up
The Tabata Push-up
The Tabata Sit-up
Tabata Air-Squat

The best thing about this Workout of the Day is anyone can do it. In addition, pull-ups and push-ups yet, can be subbed out with ring rows and box push-ups instead. Score is how fast you can complete intervals. 

8. Hero WOD Jason
For time:

100 Squats
5 Muscle-ups
75 Squats
10 Muscle-ups
50 Squats
15 Muscle-ups
25 Squats
20 Muscle-ups

This workout honors S01 Jason Dale Lewis who passed away in 2007. Squats are your friend here. After that, muscle ups and even more squats take control here. Score for time.

9. The Migraine
For time:

1000m-100m rowing
100-10 double-unders

Fatigue can be your friend or foe with this one. Similarly, rowing and double unders are a huge test here. Challenge yourself with the perfectly named Migraine. Score for time. 

10. TAG 2015 Qualifier 1
Within 20 min time frame:

100 burpees over the rower
row for max distance

Burpees will test anyone’s mental state. A lot of burpees are the crux of this workout. In conclusion, the TAG 2015 Qualifier 1 is a much try for every CrossFit athlete. Score for total distance achieved.
