The CrossFit Open concluded over a month ago. Despite that, it seems they have not finished reviewing the video submissions, and now the deadline has passed.

The Open featured five weeks of intense CrossFit action, with nearly all of the best athletes taking part. Each week saw a workout more grueling than the last. On the other hand, numbers indicated a decline in participation from previous years. Perhaps this was due to the quick turnaround time, between the 2019 Games, and the Open.

However, even though the number of competitors has decreased, CrossFit was not able to finish reviewing the video submissions within their deadline. At the start of the event, they revealed that they intended to have the videos reviewed by no later than 5:00 PM PT on Monday, December 16. Although that date has come and gone, the officials have not been able to finish checking for penalties.

So what does this mean for the athletes? The top male and female athletes on the leaderboards will be able to compete at the 2020 CrossFit Games. Therefore, with some videos still needing to be reviewed, there is still a chance for the top positions to change. As a result, the competitors are waiting with baited breath to see if their spots are secured.
