The 2023 IPF World Equipped Championships, which took place on November 13-19, in Vilnius, Lithuania, and featured a bunch of great performances. One of the most notable ones was put on by a Junior powerlifter, Daria Rusanenko. Despite being a Junior powerlifter, Daria crushed the Open age class, especially in the squat event. During that event, Daria managed to successfully perform a 278-kilogram (612.9-pound) squat, which marked the new U84KG IPF Equipped Open World Record.
Daria Rusanenko’s first squat attempt of the competition came out to 265 kilograms (584.2 pounds). Obviously, she completed it with minimal struggle, while also preserving energy for the heaviest attempts to come.
Moving onto the second attempt, Daria Rusanenko decided not to waste any time. So, she loaded 278 kilograms (612.9 pounds) on the barbell, enough to break the World Record.
She then walked out onto the platform wearing a squat suit, a lifting belt, and knee wraps. Seconds later, she initiated the lift by lowering the barbell down, displaying perfect technique and depth. The ascent back up required some grind, but Daria managed to push through it. She also attempted to lift even more weight on her final attempt, but was unsuccessful.
The previous U84KG IPF Equipped Squat World Record was also in Daria Rusanenko’s possession but stood at 276 kilograms (608.5 pounds). She set that previous record at the 2023 EPF European Open, Junior & Sub-Junior Equipped Powerlifting Championships.

So, she was by far the lightest and youngest competitor in her weight class. Regardless, Daria still managed to finish in second place, missing just two out of her nine attempts.
