Hafthor Bjornsson is undeniably one of the strongest men in the history of humanity. This is especially true when it comes to the deadlift, as he is the current World Record holder. However, Hafthor has more ambitions for his deadlift, which is why he is putting in a lot of work in the gym. As a result of that, Hafthor recently set a brand new two-rep raw deadlift PR of 430 kilograms (948 pounds).

Hafthor Bjornsson’s deadlift domination has continued ever since he decided to return from retirement. He competed in multiple elite Strongman competitions and easily won the deadlift events, no matter who he went up against. Well, it seems that he is just getting further from everyone else with the new PRs that he is achieving.

Hafthor Bjornsson performed his 430-kilogram (948-pound) deadlift using nothing apart from a lifting belt and lifting straps. Both of these are considered raw in the sport of Strongman. Moreover, Hafthor utilized a conventional stance, with sumo not being permitted at all in the sport.

The ease at which Hafthor Bjornsson achieved both reps was absolutely incredible. His first rep flew from the ground, and Hafthor found himself in a locked-out position within two seconds. His second rep needed some time to get going, but the lockout seemed very easy. In turn, Hafthor set a new two-rep 430-kilogram (948-pound) personal record.

Hafthor Bjornsson had an incredibly successful career in Strongman, winning the 2018 World’s Strongest Man and many other elite competitions. He topped it off by setting a 501-kilogram (1,104.5-pound) All-Time Deadlift World Record, after which he decided to retire. Years later, Hafthor decided to return to strength sports, but was eyeing powerlifting at first.

Unfortunately, during one of his powerlifting appearances, Hafthor Bjornsson ended up suffering a pec tear. The injury required surgery and months of recovery, but once all was settled, Hafthor decided to start doing Strongman once again. It has been going extremely well for him, since he has already taken part in five competitions, placing top 2 in four of those.

Hafthor Bjornsson is now preparing for the 2024 Rogue Invitational, which will take place on November 8-10 in Aberdeen, Scotland. In his previous appearances, the events based on upper body strength turned out to be his weakness. However, Hafthor has made a lot of progress in this regard, which is definitely promising.
