Jeff Cavaliere Breaks Down How to Get Lean: “You Gotta Find Foods You Love Eating”

“The leanness is completely determined by your nutrition. I always tell people if they want to be lean for a lifetime, you gotta find foods you love eating. And then, probably, be pretty damn consistent with eating that way.”
Even if you intend to indulge in foods you like more than Jeff Cavaliere, he maintains that it’s still possible to hold 10-12 percent body fat.
“For some people, they don’t want that trade-off. They don’t want to be super lean, to them it’s like, I want to indulge in these things more often than you do Jeff and therefore, I’m like great. Then, you still could be 10 percent body fat, you could still be 12 percent body fat, you’re going to look awesome.”
Once deprivation is brought into a dieting program, Cavaliere believes leanness will become more difficult to achieve because it’s not sustainable.
“You don’t have to be super lean to do that. I think that’s probably the best place for people to be because then for the majority of people, they’re not in any type of deprivation.
If you’ve brought deprivation into your approach, leanness is going to be… you’re not going to keep it. Because we can all do something temporarily to get leaner but we’re not going to be able to keep it that way,” Cavaliere explained.
Sustainable dieting and weight loss have remained hot topics in the fitness space with many experts exploring potential strategies. Fitness and health guru, Stan Efferding, has unpacked what dieting measures work most optimally. He believes ‘the best diet is the one you’ll follow,’ a similar notion shared by bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition to finding foods you can regularly eat, Jeff Cavaliere says to avoid deprivation for lifelong lean goals. Consistency, sustainability, and food selections remain pillars of a successful dieting approach for coach Cavaliere.
