Jourdan is a young up and coming weightlifter and she has been setting some records recently. Since she basically cleared out her initial weight class of -55kg and set multiple American records there, it was only logical for her to go down a weight class and dominate in the -49kg weight class.
Which is exactly what happened over the weekend in Rome, Italy at the Weightlifting World Cup. Delacruz set 3 new records in snatch, clean and jerk and total. The new -49kg American snatch record now stands at 87kg, clean and jerk are now at 108kg and the total is set at 190kg. These new and impressive American records also earned a gold medal in both snatch and clean and jerk.
Her main goal is, of course, to qualify for this summer’s Tokyo Olympics but regardless of her qualifying or not, she will definitely leave a permanent mark in weightlifting as her time is yet to come.
