Karlos Nasar is slowly becoming one of the greatest weightlifters of all time, achieving feats of strength that many considered impossible. This was the case recently once again, when Karlos appeared in a meet in Germany. Although it was not a competition of the highest level, Nasar used it to test his skills and scored three Unofficial World Records in the process.
Karlos Nasar’s Unofficial World Records
Snatch
Karlos Nasar usually competes in the U89KG weight class. So, it is highly unlikely that he came in at a significantly heavier weight for his meet in Germany, especially since he is looking to make an international appearance in just a few days.
Karlos Nasar’s recent outing first saw him take on the snatch event. To the delight of people in attendance, the Bulgarian weightlifter loaded 185 kilograms (407.9 pounds), which unofficially exceeded the World Record. The speed at which Nasar performed the lift was absolutely frightening, since he made it look like a training lift.
For reference, the U89KG Snatch World Record stands at 182 kilograms (401.2 pounds), which was achieved by Yeison López at the 2024 IWF World Cup. The snatch is the only world record that is not in Karlos Nasar’s possession, which is why he is so eager to break it.
Clean & Jerk
While Karlos Nasar’s snatch is impressive, his clean & jerk abilities are absolutely mind-blowing. He has been breaking records in this event for years now and is clearly not even close to his limit yet. This is due to his impeccable technique and constantly rising levels of strength.
Karlos Nasar’s heaviest Clean & Jerk during the meet in Germany came out to 230 kilograms (507.1 pounds). This marked a massive progress compared to his previous appearances, as it was 6 kilograms (13.2 pounds) heavier than the reigning world record. Once again, Karlos looked very comfortable and capable of loading even more weight on the bar.

The official U89KG Clean & Jerk World Record stands at 224 kilograms (493.8 pounds) and was set by Karlos Nasar during the recent 2024 Olympic Games.
Total
Karlos Nasar’s total at the meet in Germany came out to 415 kilograms (914.9 pounds), which is incredible for an athlete in the 89-kilogram weight class. Moreover, it exceeds the official World Record by 11 kilograms (24.3 pounds), showing how much Nasar improved in the span of just a few months.

It is important to note that the lifts that Karlos Nasar achieved in Germany are unofficial World Records since official ones can only be set in international competitions sanctioned by the IWF. However, Nasar will soon get the chance to make the records official, as he looks to appear in the 2024 IWF World Weightlifting Championships. The competition is scheduled to take place on December 6-15 in Manama, Bahrain.
It is clear that Karlos Nasar is the heavy favorite for the title in the 89-kilogram weight class, meaning that only a catastrophic event could prevent him from becoming the world champion. The majority of his appearances resulted in a gold medal so far, which included the 2024 Olympic Games, as well as numerous other high-level weightlifting competitions. So, being just 20-years-old, Karlos will likely remain on top for many years to come.
