Kostiantyn Musiienko displayed a masterclass in one of the final days of the 2024 IPF World Classic & Equipped Bench Press Championships, which took place from May 21st to June 1st in Texas, USA. The Ukrainian powerlifter showed off his prowess in the bench press, lifting 346.5 kilograms (763.9 pounds) for a new U105KG IPF Equipped World Record. Moreover, he also won the gold medal and claimed the title of World Champion.

Although it looked like the battle of the U105’s would be tight on paper, Kostiantyn Musiienko emerged as a dominant winner. His opening attempt came out to 325 kilograms (716.5 pounds), which was similar to a couple of his rivals. However, on the second attempt, Kostiantyn started separating from the pack, bench pressing 337.5 kilograms (744.1 pounds).

To wrap up an incredible performance, Kostiantyn Musiienko decided to go for a record-breaking attempt of 346.5 kilograms (763.9 pounds). Following the regulations, he wore a single-ply suit and a pair of wrist wraps, which combined with his incredible pressing power allowed him to set the U105 KG IPF World Record with ease.

*The former U105KG IPF Equipped Bench Press World Record stood for five years and was held by Vladimir Grishaev. He set the record by pressing 346 kilograms (762.8 pounds) at the 2019 IPF World Bench Press Championships.

Although Kostiantyn Musiienko’s recent performance was impressive on a number of levels, it is especially important to point out that he is usually a U93KG athlete. So, despite competing in the U105KG weight class, Kostiantyn’s bodyweight came out to only 95.15 kilograms (209.8 pounds). So, seeing that he managed to break the record while weighing 10 kilograms below the upper limit of the division, it would be interesting to see how much stronger he can get if he packs on more weight.

Kostiantyn Musiienko is easily one of the most prominent figures in powerlifting, especially when it comes to the bench press. He has years of experience competing in the top flight of the sport and many accolades to show for it. Most notably, he holds four IPF Equipped Bench Press World Records at the moment, two in the Full-Power and two in the Single-Lift categories.
