Lucy Underdown is truly one of the greatest Strongwoman competitors in the world, as seen by her display at the opening of the 2025 Arnold Strongwoman Classic. With the competition taking place on February 28 – March 1 in Columbus, Ohio, the first event of the competition turned out to be the Raw Elephant Bar Deadlift. As expected, Lucy was triumphant, locking out 676 pounds (306.6 kilograms) for a new World Record.
Lucy Underdown had three attempts to establish a one-rep max on the Elephant Bar Deadlift. So, she decided to open with an incredible 636-pound (288.5-kilogram) pull. However, her rival, Andrea Thompson, broke the World Record just minutes later with a 671-pound (304.4-kilogram) deadlift.
In turn, Lucy Underdown absolutely had to deadlift 676 pounds (306.6 kilograms) on her second attempt. Once the timer started, Lucy tried to set up her lifting straps but encountered an issue. So, she had to complete her routing from the start, all while the clock was ticking down. This visibly affected Lucy and resulted in a much more difficult lift for her. Despite nearly missing the attempt, Lucy managed to lock it out and set a new World Record.
Andrea Thompson did try to reclaim the record once more on her final attempt, loading 686 pounds (311.2 kilograms) on the barbell. However, she was unable to complete the lift. So, Lucy Underdown decided to scratch her own final attempt, as there was no need to waste more energy with five events remaining.
*Lucy Underdown also held the previous Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record of 666-lb (302-kg), which she set at the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic.

Lucy Underdown has been making progress with each year she spends in Strongwoman. So, 2024 was her best year yet, as she won the Arnold Strongwoman Classic UK and the Britain’s Strongest Woman competition. Moreover, Lucy placed third at the Rogue Invitational, which was a very impressive performance. Apart from that, Lucy has one more win from the year before, having won the 2023 OSG European Championships.
While she has won multiple competitions, Lucy Underdown is perhaps best known for her deadlift prowess. Regardless of the variation, Lucy is always on top of the leaderboards, pulling more weight than any other woman. This is evident from the 10-pound (4.5-kilogram) improvement she made to the Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record.
Lucy Underdown also holds the World Record on the standard bar, which is, in the opinion of many, the greatest lift performed by any Strongwoman in history. While she was allowed to use a deadlift suit, Lucy opted against it, deadlifting 325 kilograms (716.5 pounds) with just a pair of lifting straps and a lifting belt. So, it remains to be seen how much further she can push the record.

Lucy Underdown’s raw Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record allowed her to take the lead at the 2025 Arnold Strongwoman Classic. However, five more events remain after the deadlift, meaning that Lucy has to defend her position against some of the strongest women in the world currently. She finished in second place last year, meaning that she is hoping to improve and take the title in 2025.
