Malik Bernoussi Triolet was recognized as a powerlifting phenom in his early teens already, but he has recently stepped into his 20s. Moving into a new era of his life, Malik has clearly also found some new strength, as seen in his appearance at the 2024 Euro Muscle Show on July 13-14 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. There he took part in the 93-kilogram weight class and managed to set a 225.5-kilogram (497.1-pound) Raw Bench Press IPF Junior World Record.
Malik Bernoussi Triolet’s first attempt on the bench press came out to 207.5 kilograms (457.5 pounds), which was already extremely impressive, especially considering his weight and age at the time of the lift. However, that was still far below what he wanted to lift, which is why his second attempt came out to 217.5 kilograms (479.5 pounds).
Competing in the raw division, Malik Bernoussi Triolet was only allowed to use wrist wraps to perform his bench press. However, he was still comfortable loading 225.5 kilograms (497.1 pounds) for his final attempt, as he was determined on breaking the world record. It was definitely not an easy task, though, as he had to push himself to the limits. Moreover, his left arm was the first one to fully extend, while his right arm reached lockout a fraction of a second later. Luckily, the lift did not violate any regulations, meaning that his World Record was validated.

Malik Bernoussi Triolet had an impeccable performance up until his final deadlift attempt, which was unfortunately invalidated based on technicalities. So, he finished the competition with eight out of nine successful attempts and a new Junior World Record. Malik ended up in third place overall. However, had he successfully completed the final deadlift attempt, Malik would have gotten the silver medal instead.

Despite being just 20-years-old, Malik Bernoussi Triolet already has 19 sanctioned powerlifting appearances to his name, six of which ended in a win for him. Malik was also the Sub-Junior World and European champion in 2022, but he encountered some difficulties once he became a Junior athlete. However, he is by far the best bench presser in his respective division, and it doesn’t seem like anyone is even close to challenging him at the moment.
