Amid the ongoing concerns about relatively young South Asians suffering heart attacks, a 32-year-old man from Varanasi sadly passed away while working out in the gym on April 30.
As seen in a viral video on social media, a young man felt sick while working out in a gym and fainted soon after. The gym instructors and fellow gym enthusiasts immediately took him to the nearby hospital to get medical assistance. However, the person was declared dead upon arrival in the hospital.
The deceased is identified as Deepak Gupta, who was a dedicated fitness enthusiast training consistently for a decade. He also participated in fitness competitions. Gupta was described as a fit and healthy person and his sudden demise came as a shock to those around him.
The cause of Deepak Gupta suffering a heart attack at such a young age or his medical history is not known. The death news came at a time when revelations were made about the rare side effects of the Covishiled COVID-19 vaccine, which may cause blood clotting. The curious case of heart attacks in the younger Indian population
Instances of young Indians, especially those following a healthy lifestyle and training routines, suffering heart attacks have raised a lot of questions. While many believe that South Asian people are genetically predisposed to heart attacks, several other theories have been floated for such cases of heart attacks.
However, a section of society also believes that the instances of young people suffering heart attacks have always been common but some cases involving celebrities have brought this phenomenon to light.
Most notably, Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar succumbed to a heart attack at 46 in October 2021, which shook up the entire nation.
Former Indian cricket team captain and Cricketing legend Saurav Ganguly suffered a heart attack while training in the gym but was taken to the hospital immediately and survived the health scare.
Meanwhile, 40-year-old actor Siddharth Shukla was not fortunate enough and tragically passed away as a result of a heart attack in September 2021.
Recently, veteran film and TV actor Shreyas Talpade, 47, also had to be rushed to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack while shooting. He made a full recovery after spending a long time under medical care.
A common thread between Deepak Gupta and all the celebrity examples is that they all followed a healthy lifestyle. All four of the celebrity victims worked in industries that demanded a peak level of fitness and a healthy lifestyle. This made these instances more shocking as heart attacks are often associated with factors like aging, poor lifestyle, obesity, and substance abuse, among others.
Medical professionals have taken a keen interest in the rising number of heart attack cases. Experts opine that too little or even too much exercise is detrimental to heart and overall health. They suggest striking a balance and doing everything in moderation.
According to many doctors, it is essential to differentiate between fitness and overall health and many of them recommend getting heart health thoroughly checked before adopting any intense physical training routine.
