Mateusz Kieliszkowski is easily one of the most talented Strongman athletes that have ever competed at the highest level. However, the Polish athlete has been struggling with injuries for a while and has recently suffered another one. Unfortunately, during his most recent workout, Mateusz injured his Achilles tendon.

To make things worse, Mateusz Kieliszkowski suffered the injury just ten days out from the 2024 Europe’s Strongest Man, where he was a legitimate favorite for the title. Consequently, he has been forced to withdraw.

Moreover, Mateusz Kieliszkowski has also announced his withdrawal from the 2024 World’s Strongest Man, which is set to take place at the start of May. He was considered to be perhaps the only man who could take on the likes of Tom Stoltman and Mitchel Hooper, but he will not get the chance to prove it.

The extent of Mateusz Kieliszkowski’s injury is still unknown, as he has yet to have any major tests done. However, as per his Instagram caption, Mateusz is capable of walking on his own, but not without the presence of pain. So, hope remains that the injury will not be too severe.

“Don’t know if this is total damage or partial.
I can walk on my own, but it hurts.
Anyway, unfortunately, I’m eliminated for a while from practice and performances.
Soon I will have a doctor appointment, and we will decide on what to do next.”

Luckily, Mateusz kieliszkowski has revealed that this injury does not affect his mindset. He accepts that injuries are part of being a Strongman and believes that he will be back to his best in just a few months.

“There’s nothing to complain about all of this because I have chosen this path myself, and I’m aware that injuries and health problems are part of the sport at this level.

I’ve been through many issues, surgeries, treatments, and I don’t think that’s why I should stop.

I know that it’s only a matter of a few months before I return to full fitness.”

An unavoidable fact is that the Achilles injury came at a very bad time for Mateusz Kieliszkowski, as he has been performing exceptionally well in the past six months. Firstly, he placed third at the 2023 Rogue Invitational, despite taking 0 points on the first event of the competition. Next, Mateusz placed second at the 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic, beating the likes of Tom Stoltman, Hafthor Bjornsson, Oleksii Novikov, and more.

Overall, during his entire career, Mateusz Kieliszkowski took part in 48 International and National competitions, managing to win 15 of them. Five of those appearances came at the World’s Strongest Man competition, with his best finish being a second-place in 2018. Even there, Mateusz only lost to prime Hafthor Bjornsson.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski replacements for the 2024 World’s and Europe’s Strongest Man competitions have not yet been announced. However, there are hardly any athletes in the world currently that could fill his shoes. In turn, hope remains that Mateusz will not be absent for too long, perhaps even returning to the competition floor later this year.
