Mitchell Hooper took the sport of Strongman by storm, setting multiple records and milestones in the span of just a few years. Well, he couldn’t have done so without a meticulous approach to his training, diet, and recovery. Hooper recently decided to open up about his peptide stack on YouTube, revealing the effects that it has on his performance and recovery.
Peptides are short strings of amino acids, and they have a range of effects depending on the type. They can aid recovery, muscle growth, tendon strength, overall health, and many other aspects. However, Mitchell Hooper noted that he is not advocating for others to start using peptides but is rather just revealing what he has personally decided to take.
Mitchell Hooper’s Peptide Stack Revealed
It is important to note that taking the same peptides as Mitchell Hooper does not reflect the results and effects that he has experienced. Hooper also points this out, stressing the importance of doing research and going through the correct procedure to get the fitting peptides prescribed by a doctor based on blood work and assessment.

1. Sermorelin
Mitchell Hooper’s first peptide on the list is Sermorelin. He likes it because it stimulates the production of growth hormone instead of taking growth hormone outright. However, he points out that it is not a “magic bullet” that is able to transform anyone into a superhero. Rather, it helps with recovery and muscle building to a certain degree.
“First off, I take sermorelin. It stimulates the pituitary glands to increase growth hormone secretion. Growth hormone is not an uncommon thing for people to take in the world of strength sports.
I’m really uncomfortable with the proposition of taking exogenous growth hormone for a couple of reasons. One, it’s very difficult to get a legitimate source. But two, growth hormone is inherently very non-specific. So going super physiological with your growth hormone means that not only will your muscles grow, but your hair will grow everywhere, your heart grows, your liver grows, your intestines grow — a lot of bad health consequences can come from that.
Where sermorelin stimulates your own body to produce its own growth hormone, which is going to be a much lower level and a much safer way to do it… I really do notice a difference when I’m taking sermorelin and when I am not.”
2. Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide
Mitchell Hooper uses Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide to improve his digestion, as eating massive amounts of food is one of the tasks that a Strongman athlete must take on. In turn, it also helps with Hooper’s cardiovascular health, easing some of the effects that come with being slightly overweight and a professional Strongman athlete.
It is important to note that Mitchell Hooper has some family history of cardiovascular issues and has even had a 190/110 blood pressure at one point in his career. So, he is making sure to mitigate the problem in any way he can.
“Vasoactive intestinal peptide improves digestion — that will, of course, help to eat larger quantities of food. It also causes relaxation of these smooth muscles in the heart and blood vessels.
Naturally, small vessels, when they are constricted, less room for blood to go through. Blood is inherently sticky. It can then lead to heart issues and other cardiovascular problems like strokes. This is a thing that can stem that problem.”
3. Methionine
Mitchell Hooper also takes Methionine, which, in the most basic terms, helps with energy production from a variety of food sources. This is important for Hooper, as he is able to train more, thus stimulating more growth and progress. It particularly helps him with longer Medley events.
“It helps you generate ATP from a variety of sources, and mitochondrial respiration, which is creating energy from carbs and fats.
Essentially, it increases your capacity to digest your fuel sources into creating ATP.
Now, for me, I generally feel like I have more energy for exercise when I’m taking methionine. For me, it makes me feel more powerful, as though I have more energy at a moment’s notice.”
4. NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide)
NAD+ is another way for Mitchell Hooper to energize himself and help him recover from difficult training sessions. He believes that this is a better way of fueling his body than adding excess carbs and calories to his stacked diet. In turn, Hooper believes that NAD+ will also support his long-term health.
“NAD+, which is a form of vitamin B3.
Essentially, NAD+ creates ATP. It improves recovery. And for me, I have confidence with NAD+ that I’m supporting my long-term health and that I’m getting all of the energy that I can.”
5. Glutathione
Mitchell Hooper’s final item on the list is Glutathione. It mostly helps with recovery, which is important for the reigning Strongest Man on Earth, as Strongman training and lifestyle leave a lot of damage on muscles, tendons, and overall health. So, by taking Glutathione, Hooper feels like he is able to train hard on a regular basis.
“Glutathione is involved in tissue building and repair — this applies to muscles, to soft tissues, to the brain, to the liver, to the skin, etc.
For me, this is essentially the world’s best buffer of abusing your body… through eating excess amounts of food, being way more overweight than the average person would be, pushing my body to the limit, damaging my muscles and my ligaments, and really walking the line of health and performance, and often performing when feeling unhealthy.”
