Russel Orhii recently moved up to the 93-kilogram weight class, where he managed to make some incredible improvements and elevate his lifting to a whole new level. So, he recently decided to showcase his progress at the 2026 SBD Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, which took place on January 31st in England. He ended up setting a new U93KG Raw Squat IPF World Record of 356 kilograms (784.8 pounds).

The squat was the first event of the 2026 SBD Sheffield Powerlifting Championships and Russel Orhii was ready to kick off the competition in style. He opened up with a 325-kilogram (716.5-pound) squat, making the bar look weightless with the ease of his movement. With that out of the way, Russel was now able to pursue the World Record with more confidence.

On the second attempt, Russel decided to make a massive jump, increasing the load to 356 kilograms (784.8 pounds). Despite the huge increase in weight, Russel walked out confidently, got under the bar and achieved what looked like another routine lift for him. However, it was much more than that, since it marked the new IPF World Record in the 93-kilogram weight class.

Orhii did not celebrate much, as he went straight off the stage to prepare for his final lift. So, for his third attempt, he decided to go for 365.5 kilograms (805.8 pounds), making another big jump. It looked promising, but Orhii reached a sticking point on his ascent that he could not break through. In turn, it was noted down as an unsuccessful lift.
